Fly squash / tar / screen smear!!!

Hi
Can anyone help with the following? What do you use to clean off:-
a. fly squash - I used to use a foam that you left on and then just rinsed off - haven't seen it for years!
b. tar
c. screen smear - still there after glass cleaner used!!! - yes I did the blades!!!
Whatever you use for the above, do I need to repolish / wax after use. I don't mind washing the car but hate polishing.

Re screen smear.
Try Meths followed up by AutoGlym glass polish to remove the residue left by the methanol.
Ideally ethanol would be better if you can get it.

Why can't you get Mixra anymore? That stuff was great!

My pilot got an aerosol can by Gunk from Halfords which seems to get rid of insects (supposed to do tar as well but haven't picked up any yet!). It comes out as a foam. Doesn't get rid of Pigeon excrement though!!

Hi Tonyt

Halfords do a very good insect cleaner and windcreen wash for your wash/wipe. When I had my mercedes A class a bought a can of tar remover from mercedes which was very effective at removing tar. However you would have re-wax your car afterwards.

May I suggest that you don't park under a pigeon then?

Use glass cleaner & newspaper always works don't know why or how!
