I can't see how the waterless wash jobbies I have seen advertised can do the job without scouring the paint.

You do need to damp down the dirt/dust to prevent scratches.

Thumbs down It is there.....jus not where you are looking :-)

TonyT is refering to the Google Ad at the bottom of the page.

I went to the web site, and watched the product video (http://www.go-waterless.co.uk/ultra-ion-video.asp). If my car was that clean before I started cleaning it I wouldn't bother starting!

Personally I'd steer well clear of such a product. Dspite the claims, it would only take one small piece of grit to not be "jelly beaned" and you'd say goodbye to your nice paintwork.

I have not tried it myself, but in general:

Nice approach.
I saw this NoWet product selling in a supermarket, but I don't know anyone that use it. I'm afraid to scratch the painting, but, by the other hand, if it works, is something clean and fast to use.

Waterless wash products work basically by being loaded with silicon, the silicon basically acts a lubricant in the same way water does when you 'wash' you car normally. Silicon is much more slippery than water so hence why it doesn't scratch. Does it work sort of and yes you can mimic it (at your own risk) very cheaply using furniture polish. One tip is the product is very good for cleaning brass.....

Also too much Silicon residue causes issues if you even need any body work repaired, the residues are so fine that it can cause pin holing of the paint, it just can't take to any areas with silicone, this was explained to me when I complained about a repair to my wing. "sorry sir, its the type of wash/wax/polish you use" needless to say they re-re-sprayed it (in fact twice more).,
