Well I did have a good look (like I need an excuse!). I can't detect any, yet. I'm sure they're there, just undetectable to me. The silver hides them better than the Milano Red on the last car I think. I've only washed it twice.. in 2 weeks.

Will look at the waffley things after I've eaten

Silver hides marks very well. Black tells no lies, especially in the sun.

As for towels, take a look here: http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/wash.html

Seem to be out of stock at the moment, but loads of other retailers will do them too. Avoid the Megs Water Magnet - I relegated mine to wheel only use as it's very harsh, and gets worse after being washed.

Cheers for the link!

I can stroll to Halfords at lunch time so may just go browsing. - and maybe observe the Saxo owners in the car park

I think Halfords only do the Megs Water Magnets.

Buy online from a decent retailer, and buy some other goodies while you're there.

Ok. Must remember no to buy too much though- I start paying for the spaceship this month!

I like polishedbliss so far. the guides are good, especially the bit telling you to clean and tidy up all your bits and bobs after you've finished!

They're a heavy read, but I'd recommend them to anyone interested in proper care of their car.

At my Halfords the lady hadn't even heard of them!

I had my current car done with Diamondbrite and it was a waste of money. The dealer was doing a promotion as they'd just started doing it and so my car was a sort of demo for them, so I got it half price

The car felt nice for the first six months it had a glossy feel to the paintwork. I was told that it would almost stop the car from looking dirty in that dirt would not stick to it so it would make it easier to clean but it was a lot of work keeping it up with an included kit that lasted about a year

I recently found a ticket saying it was due to be checked & redone (for want of a better word) in a year but never heard anything from them after it was done. I dont even think they did the interior as promised

If it was offered free I would accept it but I dont think I'd pay for it again

I bought the superguard stuff for my red type r the only reason being it comes with a 6 year warranty and as red always seems to fade a thought it was a good choice.

Also to those of you that also bought it, did u get a pack with cleaning cloths etc or just a box with the shampoo and conserver?

Cheers

With the Diamond Brite stuff all I got was just Shampoo and 'conserver', whatever that is!

At least it provided an undercoat for the super finish that Millie is now promoting.

......that Meguiar's 'Speed Detail' makes a great job between waxes.

I got the supaguard, thought the car looked well with it, but surely polishing removes the treatment meaning your throwing away £200

I got mine Supagarded cost me £160 at the dealer. And they made a mess of it and im really not sure if they did it properly.

I guess polishing would take the sealant away but i guess if u use just a wax that would not take the sealant away and it would be a layer on top so it would be better.

If nothing more than polish removes once of the special coats (eg DiamondBrite) then it doesn't say a lot for the residual characteristics does it?

I think I paid around £300 for the Diamond Brite stuff.

It looked great initially.

After about 9 months the shine was getting a bit flat, swirls were appearing on the paint work, bird droppings were NOT easy to get off.

I read on this forum about one guy who bunged a bit of polish on and every thing appeared pretty again.

I gave it a try.

Maybe I have removed the Diamond stuff, which wasn't doing much anyway!

But the finish now is better than delivery - and that's worth pursuing

I thought the Diamondbrite was a sort of glaze layer?

If so then an additional layer of wax should enhance it and not remove it?

Please forgive me if I am now showing my ignorance, but I thought polishing is about removing tired, faded, dull surface revealing fresh, vibrant underneath; Diamondbrite et al are optional sealants to help protect the fresh or new surface; wax is a top coat to protect underlying finish.

If I am right, then surely polish needs to dig through waxes & sealants to repair underlying paint finish, before reapplying wax protection. This would surely mean that Diamondbrite/Superguard + polish is bad for the Db/Sg.

I don't know what the Diamond Brite stuff looks like, or even if it was put on in the first place, all I know is that I paid for it!

What I do know now is that the Turtle Wax Platinum + a bit of Meguiar's Speed Detailer after washing, and between the waxes, has given me a finish to be proud of.

That's all I ever wanted in the first place.

Can someone actually clarify what the dealer's suparguard sticker looks like - eg does it say "Suparguard" or is there a symbol. My car was supposed to have it, but its not documentated in any of my paperwork.

Have I been misled??

Definately not worth it.

The front of your car will get stonechipped to hell after moving 2 inches anyway.

No, I didn't buy it, I just wanted to know whether it had been applied- as it was supposed to be a part of the deal.
