A-Glaze

Guys (and Gals )- sorry its me again - with another question.
My dealer - Barratts in Canterbury offers the A-Glaze paint protection for £236 - now I've read on here about Diamond and the other one but can't seem to find a mention of A-Glaze so again! asking if anyones had this done - it would come with a 5 year guarantee as its being applied to a new car ( on cars 6 months + its a 3 year guarantee).
Would just appreciate hearing if anyones had this done and if it works better than the other 2 mentioned - which seem to be regarded as a waste of money.

All the same thing really. If you want a long lasting wax buy some Collinite.

I put similar question on forum about the Supagard, Reading the replies there were positive and negative answers, i think it's down to personal choice if you take it or not. Myself, I kept my money and opted for the AUTOGLYN top gloss protection i was previously using.

The people who are overly positive about the product are generally, no offense indended, those who don't understand fully about what other products are available and how to use them properly. The product is a wax type product, and you top it up. If you ever use polish on the car, the finish is stripped. This means the finish will get worse and worse, and all you'll be doing it covering it with more wax.

For your average joe who washes their car weekly with a sponge (and never polishes or waxes), Supaguard type products are suited well.

For people who spend a little more care on their cars, regular and proper use of polish and sealant/wax will far suprass the finish offered by these dealer applicated products for much less money.

I use the following:
Polish - Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish - link
Sealant - Blackfire Wet Diamond All Finish Paint Protection - link
Wax - Blackfire Wet Diamond Ivory Carnuaba Paste Wax - link

These are high end products, but the finish is absoletely superb.

Thanks Guys - really appreciate the info
still considering as it will sadly be spending a fair bit of time parked in a port about 30M from the sea and Im a bit paranoid about the effect salt would have on the paint!
Unfortunatly due to the fact I work abroad and stay in a hotel for upto 5 weeks at a time its not possible for me to really clean and wax car sometimes for upto 5 weeks - any idea if it was waxed and sealed if would give salt protection for upto 5 weeks at a time>?

I paid loads of dosh for Diamond Brite and the results, at the time, seemed good.

But over time the finish started to get dissapointing, about 9 months or so.

I now use that Turtle Wax stuff and the finish is better than when I picked up the vehicle.

So I reckon that that it is not 'worse and worse', as Dawson reckons.

If you got the spare cash go and stick those coatings on, and then when the finish becomes unacceptable you can then start doing the hard work with waxes and polishes.

The finish isn't indestructable - like other waxes and sealants it'll deteriorate over time. As you say, after a few months it started to look dissappointing - worse than when you picked the car up.

As for it being hard work, buy the right products and it won't be hard work. The Blackfire stuff I linked to (as an example) is simply applied using a foam pad and wiped off - no nasty white residue or hard work needed.

Imo, the £300 would be much better spent getting a detailer to prepare the car for you.

Cherry Glaze

Anybody here tried Cherry Glaze? What do you think of it?

It was recommended to me by the valeter from the dealer I bought my Civic from... he said he'd send me half a tin but must've forgotten.

The £300 gloss will deminish, and then when you see the results from whatever product you choose to use, with a little bit of effort, it really isn't hard work.

......and don't forget the stealer will charge you a check up fee each year to ensure that his product is still performing well!!!!!

Well an update on this - will be using Maguires NXT wash and NXT Wax on car - damn Halfords - far too tempting to spend money on Civic already and 49 days till delivery!
Also off ebay grabbed a etched civic ally Tax disk holder http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ENGRAVED-NEW-H...QQcmdZViewItem - sadly didn't do a Type S one also this one for you type R owners http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Engraved-HONDA...QQcmdZViewItem - blue led cig lighter (not intending to use it but fits blue light theme of car) and a neat Steel Honda keyring - 2 finish polished seal teardrop shaped sort of (got 24h left on both bids keep fingers crossed for me ).

In the description on his eBay page it said that he could make some to order if you supplied a jpeg of the logo you wanted.
Are you thinking about providing a logo, as I might if I can find one.

DOH... missed that been quite excited over new car and missed it - just went for the normal "civic" one - which i still think looks alright - might always buy one of those crome Type S badges and apply - was guessing for a one off etching would push the price up a fair bit and got enough to pay already!
Hmmm thinking about it though maybe a CIVINFO.COM etching? matched to the sticker - what you guys think?

What are these chrome Type S badges you mention??
I might contact Pottsy and suggest it to him. Might be another way of raising money for the site.
