I have recemtly changed from a chamois to microfibre for drying off with great results. I also use a silicone blade for getting off the excess water, however make sure you wipe it regularly to avoid the chances of any particles getting caught on the blade and scratching.

I worried about the risk of the blade causing a problem. I use microfibre towels, but I HATE the way they feel against the rough man-skin on my hands!!

Its not just me then..... i hate the feeling of micro-fibre cloths on my hands.

I scrape off the excess with a 'rather expensive' silicone blade - then wipe the rest with a chamois.

I use Sonus Der Wunder towels. They are a super soft waffle weave design so the do not mark the paintwork, and are superb for drying. I can dry both mine and my wifes car without wringing it out.

NO

They do not have the same feel as normal microfibre clothes. I think it is due to the way the fibre is weaved.

If you ever go to Halfords and see the Meguiars drying towel, they are the same design but MUCH MUCH softer.

Start off with a Vileda Window Cloth to carefully get the worst off followed by a Meguiars Water Magnet.

Proper Job

I went to my Halfords and asked for one of them Meguiars drying towels (Water Magnet?) and the lovely lady said 'I ain't heard of 'em. You won't get them 'ere!'

So at the moment I chammy, then apply the Megs Speed Detailer.

Just worked out the answer to my problem.

Try another Halfords!

Cheers Kremmen.

I found that using just the Water Magnet after rinsing doesn't work that well once it becomes soaking wet as it is not that easy to wring out properly.

Using a synthetic chamois first (Vileda Window Cloth), very lightly, just to get the worst off, followed by the Water Magnet to get all the wet off streak free.

Proper Job

Thanks for that
I washed the new motor today - and used blade to get most off - then one of those water magnet cloths - quite impressed
Better finish than a normal chamois

Went to my local Halfords today and they had THREE water magnets in stock!!!

Buy 2 get one free!

Guess who's got 3?

Raining at the moment.

Bit silly to dry off in the rain.

Will operate as soon as practical and report back.

Not impressed with my first use of the Water Magnet.

Left lots of spots that my Shammy would normally remove.

'twas very sunny when I tried it tho'

I'll give it another try under not so sunny conditions.

I prefer the water magnet to my old shammy to be honest! Better results.

Use the chammy first, very lightly to get the worst off, then follow up with the Magnet. If you just use the Magnet it gets quite wet and is not as effective.
