Paint Protection film - How much is it and is it worth it?
I've been reading all the threads on stone chips with worry. I've been thinking about getting the front done with that plastic protection film stuff. I don't mean supagard, but the actual plastic film that gets put over the front of the car. So I was wondering;
Has anyone had it done? How much do they charge and does it work? Last edited by Marc W; 23rd May 2007 at 21:33. |

Not had it done yet as i'm still waiting for my car, but i'm thinking about this also.
I protect all my mountain bikes with similar stuff and it works really well. Don't let them fool you into thinking that it will be invisible at it is easy to spot, so I'm thinking of having the bumpers done all the way up to the lights (and lights). Seems to me from the web sites i've visited that they can do part of the bonnet but i think this would show and I don't see the point of just protecting some of it any way. Price wise it looks like its going to cost about £350 (Rhinoprotect.co.uk). |

It loses its shine quite quickly as it gets damaged by the stones and things that it is trying to protect you car from.
Only looks ok for a bit! "You have gotta admire that Pope guy. He's always making tours but as yet he has never released an album!" Charles H. |

Guys
Just noticed your posts about stone chip film. Cost from us for a complete kit is £399.99 which is bumper bonnet wings lamps and mirrors this includes fitting and VAT. I have attached the kit below for the 07 Civic Type R: I think I need to cover a few points, The film visibility - this varies if you know its on there you will see it any passer by is unlikely to notice the film. Dulling - film should not dull down, older films had a few issues but as long as you treat it the same way as the rest of your car with an occasional coat of wax the shine will remain. If you have the previous generation of non clear coated VentureShield films simply heat it up with a hair drier and it will regain its shine and any marks or scratches should disappear. Bonnets - We have just launched full bonnets so you can now have the whole bonnet done without any edges the film is wrapped round the edges of the bonnet for maximum protections. We are just about to release it for main stream cars for £150 extra, so that will be £549.99. The film thickness is about 200 microns so is as thin as possible and comes with a lifetime guarantee not to yellow peel or crack. We also provide free accident replacement. As a member of the Civinfo.com forum we are pleased to give you a 15% discount on all our products. Let me know if there is anything else you need to know Regards James MD Rhinoprotect http://www.rhinoprotect.com |

Somebody has had it done on this forum, remember seeing a photo on here last year. IIRC, the problem is all the dirt that accumulates along the edge of the film as it didn't go right to the end of the bonnet, think it stopped half way up. Looked a bit daft! I'm sure there'll be a photo on here somewhere though.
