Angry Arrgh A scratch

Hi All,

I managed to put a scratch on the side of my Civic, fortunately the culprit was a branch sticking out of a bush and not something really nasty. I scratch doesn't appear to have gone through to the metal rather left a mark on the paint. I have read the contents of the thread >
Scratches and before I go off and start t-cutting (if have had supraguarded) or using anthing similar I wondered if the mark would come off through a buffing cloth and some elbow grease.

Thanks everyone

Paul

I'd like to say it would go with a bit of a buff, but I know people on here who have had superficial scratches that apparently would not be buffed out.

Please dont use t cut on metalic, one of the best products I have used for scratches is meguiars scratch x, but like you said you might have to use a bit of elbow grease but its worth it, also you might have to keep doing it till it faids, then put a bit of wax over it, it costs about £9.00 from halfords or any good car shop.

Polishers Beware!

Before you start using any of those 'deep cleaning' products be aware that as with all metallics, there is a clear laquer put on top of the 'metallic' bit to create the shine.

If you buff too hard you'll damage that area!

...and; the paint on a Civic is not very thick! Mer make a scratch treatment and it comes with a video (what's one of them?) showing how to fill a scratch with paint and clear lacquer and then finishing. Looks good when they demonstrate it on QVC. If you can see any 'white' in the scratch then it will never 'cut in' as it is already showing the base coat.

If the scratch isn't too wide careful application of touch up paint before polishing might be enough to hide it. (by careful I mean only in the scratch and not on the remaining paint, of course let it dry before polishing.
