Please Help (Annoying Niggle!)

Ok had my type-r a few days now and i'm very happy but i need help with a cleaning issue. Ive got a few spots of dirt/grease just above the door trimon the roof lining which is like a beige material, just wanted to pick all your brains on the best way of getting it off without making the lining "bobbly" or go discoloured,

Please help experts,

It's ticking me off!

Any mild shampoo, Autoglym is one, should do the job.

But, as it says on the tin

.....try a less conspicuous area first.

Best of luck lad.

Did you have your car treated with supa guard, the upholstery cleaner that comes with the pack is fantastic.

How about this!

Best idea yet I think.

Boots (or anybody else's I reckon) Baby Soft Cloth Wipes.

Really works a treat.

Charles,

Intersting choice. I had a test drive in a 330D sport auto some time ago which hadn't been prepared for sale (from main BMW dealer) - he said all they use on their leather is baby wipes, amazing how much dirt they collect...

Not sure how true or what type of wipes are best, but those were his words to me.

Yes baby wipes are ideal for car interior spots and marks I used to keep a pack in the boot of my last 2 cars, theyre also good for picking up parrot poo!

Also try 1001 troubleshooter for stubborn stains

As a general rule no I meant parrot poo in the house. He has travelled in my old car though on a perch that sticks to the window and yes he pooed everywhere, he wont be going in the civic for quite some time!

This is the pooer in question!

'tis very true.

The best ones, are the one's that my daughter has in her handbag!

Lady H. just has the standard Boot's ones around in case the daughter's bag is empty!

Don't get the ones with the additives like 'alloe vera' or such like.

Oddball recommendation but at your nearest £1 shop or equivalent look out for a spray bottle called elbow grease! about £1.97. Worrying as it is when the label says formaldehyde it hasnt harmed any fabric Ive used it on and shifts dirt like nothing on earth - for xample a shiny metalic silver shirt my other half has - had cooking oil stain that hadn't shifted in 2 years despite numerous washes with everything - a quick spray and 60 degree wash and all traces gone - also got rid of 3 year baked on cooking oil splatters an ex's splashback - wire brillo pads had failed.
So its effective but gentle - still as Charles says always try out on a inconspicuous place first - and no probs on my cream golf trim things either.

Smile

Miles better - Golfs not been bad - had it from new for 8 years now but its got to the stage its going to the big retirement home / in other words its going to be the runabout for my other half - who sadly lacks a car at the moment.
Hmm thinking about it the car only has white/cream trim on roof lining and a pillar - rest is black (outside of car is a metallic british racing green - think it was called Dragon green at VW).
Prefer the style of MK4 golf to MK5 - think they took a step back - but soooo bored of the bland german styling. Civic (once it arrives only 13 days 8 hours to go ) will be a real pleasure to drive.
