There are lots of birds where I live as well, I use WD-40, if the "stuff" already has dried on, wait 5 minutes before wiping of or you might scratch your paint. Some people here use Ballistol (a sort of gun-grease) which works perhaps even better but might not be available in the UK. You can remove tar stains or resin quite well with that, too.

If only Honda paint went as hard as bird droppings.
Do you think we could patent it and sell it to Honda as an additive.

QD - as already pointed out, is Quick Detailer, any brand. Doesn't have to be Meguiar's.
De-ionised water (filtered water from the Flash car system) would be okay too.
So long as you've something wet that you can mist on the crap to soften before wiping away with MF cloth (long fibre preferably).
Can't advocate baby wipes - used them once myself, and the streaking left was almost as bad as the bird muck.

i used an ice scraper a couple of weeks ago (very dry, very hard ) but this was on the front window, no damage or scratches.
But when its on paint you should remove it as fast as possible, my friends A6 now has a huge scraped spot on his bonnet because he left it on there for too long

Any clarification as to 'how fast as possible' may stretch? Are we talking for hours or days?

Birdpoop can eat into your clearcoat within minutes, not even hours. Address it as soon as you see it.

That was quick!

You got me really worried now. I have a couple already on my car (it's an everyday problem like many have laready mentioned) and I was thinking of rinsing them off next time I washed my car. I suppose that doesn't help really...

If you cannot get to wash them off quickly, soak them with water, this will dilute the acidity in them so that you deal with them later, minimising the damage that they can cause.

I used water followed (too soon) by a damp cloth.

Goddamn bird must have been eating pebbles because it left some nice scratches. They were noticable too. My own stupid fault. Got them out using T-Cut Colour Fast Scratch Removal followed by Turtle Wax Metallic Car Wax. The scratch remover was for silver metallic paint.

Worked really well but I was EXTREMELY careful not to use too much or rub too hard. Worked for me but many people do not recomment T-Cut as it can be harsh if not used properly.
