Scratched Windscreen

Hi

Has anyone had their windscreen replaced yet? Had my car just over a month and ive already got a wiper arc scratch on the drivers side . Really annoying as ive been keeping the car very clean and it happened in just 1 day's bad weather.

After looking around the internet im fairly sure there isnt much chance of getting it out - i even tried giving it a quick rub with some t-cut but as i can feel the scratches under my nail i could spend my whole life trying that - in fact theres more chance of the glass morphing before that works. So with a sense of hesitation in putting a new screen in a month old car im wondering how well it replaces...

Thanks

I had mine replaced last month after a chip turned into a crack right down the screen.

Autoglass came out, replaced the screen and made an excellent job of it. I took off any original stickers and replaced them onto the new screen.

thanks - thats a good vote of confidence for the replacement option

Ive got to use RAC Autowindscreens as its a company car and thats who we have a contract with.

I had mine replaced last week after a lorry threw up a huge stone right into the centre of the screen.
I also had to use RAC Autowindscreens and they did a great job, you'd never know it had been replaced.

great - in that case i reckon its time to change it - those scratches look awful on an otherwise nice and shiny car

you may be able to polish the scratches out. also you will need to replace the wiper as this will only scratch the new one.

My dealer replaced mine when it cracked down the inside due to the frost earlier in the year - no problems since the replacement

Well spotted, Gray52!

Very good point there!

.....and they are so long, do you have to buy them by the foot?

Do you have a foreign object stuck in the wiper blade or is it a wiper blade manufacturing defect?

This may help decide who pays, although some insurance windscreen replacements are fully covered.

To be honest now you mention it im not sure if it was a defective set of blades or grit... but as for who pays, its a company car...

Probably grit kicked up by something, but as you say its a company car, may as well get the windscreen replaced!

to close the thread... i just had the 'screen done by the RAC today and they did a fab job - you cannot tell its been done. While the screen was off it looked like honda had actually thought about screen replacement in the design - seemed really straightforward.
