wax would help a little, what were you using that scratched it in the first place? How deep are they?

The drywash products were mentioned recently and people were put off because it could scratch the paintwork. Looks like thats what's happened with you. If they're light a good coat of wax should cover them up rightly

Correct, any dirt/dust must be soaked first to loosen it otherwise.........

A secondary reason why I changed my black ES is because I had inadvertantly washed the car without sufficient water causing millions of tiny scratches. I now am utra careful, using a water fed brush, a new leather -which I rinse frequently. There was a product advertised on the Shopping Channels some years ago called GS27 Scratch remover. It came from France[!]. It does work but takes some time and you'll probably need a couple of tubes. Have just checked their website www.gs27.com . Its in French [surprise surprise], so over to you....

I've been told not to use the automatic car washes as they can scatch the car. Feel unsure about mobile car washes as they might be 'just doing a job' and not care about using sufficent water or rinsing any grit out of cloths.

There is no substitue for DIY in car cleaning.

Only you has the care and compassion to really clean properly a Space Ship.

Have a look around this section, under cleaning, nip out to Halfrauds, get some stuff, then Bingo, all the kit for DIY.

It may take a while, but Heck!

That motor cost thousands!

When you finish, and if you have done as we try to tell you, you should be very proud of 'All my own work'!

How else can you explain the success of those you don't like?"

If you are really OCD throw the leather and brush away as these too will scratch the top coat.

Best process by far is to rinse, pre-wash (best with foam as this draws dirt off the surface) rinse then hand wash with mitts (not sponge) using 2 buckets, one for shampoo, one to rinse the mitt.

To dry use a microfibre cloth and Megs Quick detailer (spray on when wet)

This absolutely reduces the chance of scratching the paint.

BUT - your neighbours will think you're a freak

Mine said just that to me last night, apparantly him and his Wife were playing a game to see how many times I would go round the car, he won, he said 7. Rinse, Wash, Rinse, Dry, Clean, Polish, Wax. Thanks to Mrs RR it only took a little over 2 hours on Saturday morning, looks great though.

Which Polish and Wax do you use on your Red Civic? Does it give a wet look finish?

Then all round down to the top of the bumper line = 5
Bumper & below = 6
Wheels = 7
Rinse = 9 (double whammy)
leather = the same rigmaroll = 14
then I open all the doors, tailgate, bonnet and go round = 15

Then go round with the Vax = 16

If I wax then take the number you first though of.........................

Just to mention, TOYOTA, the car plant in Derby, use 3M Finesse-it! for light scratch / mark removal. It is expensive, but easily the best polish available today - e.g. £15 per litre on eBay

I noticed a few scratches on mine & I bought Turtle wax colour magic plus (look here Turtle Wax) costs about £7
since mine is black I think scratches show up more but........
Anyway after applying this it really made a difference to the scratches, I had to really search for them.

AutoGlym Super Resin Polish is great for disguising swirls. Cover with a good wax/sealent and should look good for a while.

I use the Meguiars 3 step jobby, it gives a great shine, I would not say its as wet as some of the pics I've seen but the shine is really nice and it really deepens the red.
