I usually wash it myself or in car wash but manual....not automatic....they don't often change brushes in time....so car has little strips on it....and I enjoy washing it....

Don't use a car wash and I don't use sponges either as they scratch the paintwork.

Car wash all the way.

If it hasn't got a coat hanger spinning round with the brush... I'm happy to get in there (in the car of course)!

A carwash will leave your looking like some body has been ice skating on it.

If you don't want to wash it yourself, go to one of those hand car washes.
It's normally around a fiver and they normally do a really good job, and they chamois it down at the end.
I'd never use a car wash, even those EMO or ARC ones.
That's the best compromise i think.

The ARC ones claim they are gentle with the cars and don't scratch them, but i think all mechanical car washes tend to damage the car in some way.

I saw one of these once! He dropped the leather on the ground, picked it up, carried on with the drying off!

But, if you're too lazy or can't be bothered to look after a £15K - £20K layout then what difference does it matter anyway!

Do it yourself.

In an earlier car, NOT a Honda, the auto wash machine ripped off one of my wing mirrors!

Mind you I haven't been thro a car wash with Millie yet and the rear wiper IS missing!

I use my local car wash when the car gets very dirty. It is not the usual type of brush wash, but has multiple jets which "jet wash" the car all over so nothing to scratch the body work. At £3.99 not bad value either.
Once the worst is off, I tend to go over it by hand with a squeegee blade then chamois leather.

you have made my mind up.

Thanks every body that posted.I have stated to hand wash my car, and finding it very rewarding to do so.But as always the one down side to it all, was the british weather.

Another problem with the auto washes is that they dont get right into the awkward bits like the inner wheels or up under the rear lights on the Civ.

Add me to 'never use one' brigade.

I always have my car washed by the local hand car wash. For one it costs the same as the sainsbury's automatic and second they do a better job.
