Consumer seat protection spray?

Ive been looking for something to protect the seat upholstery, maybe some kind of spray on, like scothgard. But I havent found anything that doesnt cost a bomb and that I can do myself.
Just to keep light dirt off, make it resistive to getting dirty and make it easier to clean.
Ive been to Halfords and didnt see anything of this nature there...
Does anyone have a product recommendation?
Thanks

Brilliant stuff. I used two cans on my last car. Dirt just wipes straight off

yep, so can i get something like scotchgard for the seats in some retail shop. Anybody know of a name I should look for.
Do Halfords (there is one near me) even stock something that fits this purpose?

I was in Halfords (Biggleswade Branch) at the weekend, and I'm sure that I saw cans of Scotchguard Fabric treatment on sale there.
If one store stocks it, then your local store may be able to get it if they don't stock it themselves.

I got the Halfords stuff. I think it was called nanospray and is made by Carplan £9.99 a tin. It took me 2 cans to do the whole car, boot seats and carpet as I wanted to give it a good coating.

It did smell a bit for a couple of weeks but seems to have gone now and so far its worked really well, water just beads and sits on the fabric, although Ive not had a major spill as yet.

I asked a guy in Halfords about this carplan stuff yesterday. He said that it wasnt really what I was looking for when I told him I wanted something like scotchgard.....? it seems to be the same thing, I read the back of the canister.

Its the only product of this type they stock so its doing the job for you...but Ihave some questions.

Is it sticky or greasy at all?
Does it change the way the seats feel?

You said it smelled at first, really bad or just an expected chemical smell?
Did colours run at all?

And do you just spray it on lightly and leave it to dry naturally?

Thanks

No its not sticky or greasy just feels damp until dry (obviously) and didnt change the way the seats feel

It was just a chemical smell but quite strong, however I read up on some car detailing forums and some people actually like the smell, I suppose I was a bit sensititve at the time as the car stil had that NEW SMELL.

I probably didnt leave the doors etc open long enough either as it started to rain when i applied it so had to close the doors etc.

Did colours run at all?
No the colours didnt run, I have the type S so have fabric and alacantra, it didnt affect either material at all.

Yeah but I sprayed it on quite liberally, hence the 2 cans, they also reccommend you re-apply (top-up) every 3-6 months depending on how much you use the car, I did it 3 months ago and so far it has held up very well.

Thanks[/quote]

Ah thanks for all the answers. I still have the new car smell too and its just really me in it so I would probably then just spray it on the front seats.
