Thank you for replying - I looked at a silver civic in the showroom and that was perfect. Mine did not look like that a few weeks ago, just wanted to see if anyone elses did.

Thanks

...looks like overspray from paintwork repairs = bodyshop skimped on masking stuff off. Go back to them and make a fuss. With the right materials and elbow grease, it can be removed.

They are denying it, say they never touched inside the car and it was all masked off.

Rubbish, I doubt it would have come from factory like that and if it did then it should be covered under the paint warranty (plus the dealer should have picked it up in the PDI).

It looks to me that when they resprayed your car, the paint has blown through the gap between the door and the rear quarter panel. I would have thought a professional body shop would have a way of covering this gap, or at the very least remove the over spray after.

Chiswick Honda returned my car in a similar state (plus raised edges where it was masked of) claim it was a factory finish! Bol**cks, I made them take it back twice to remove it and it's still not right!

I know many will not agree (especially the dealers), but if the paint work is shoddy from the factory or the dealers damage it, it can never be repaired to a factory finish and therefore the car should be replaced by Honda/the offending dealer! (or VERY significant compensation!!!) We have all paid good money for a brand new car and should not accept resprays due to someone’s poor workmanship/carelessness!

If we wanted a car that had been resprayed, we would have bought a
second hand one and took that chance!

Sorry for the rant, but it really winds me up! (I know the prob's you've had in the past and really feel for you!)

Stick to your guns, that is shoddy workmanship and they must sort it!

Thanks Bog, the dealers are on my side at least, the outer panels that have just been repaired are bad also, it needs to be done again.

I have told the dealers I dont want that particular approved bodyshop near my car again as they keep messing it up.

As the bodyshop are denying it I just wanted to see if anyone elses looked like that in case I hadnt noticed before (which is highly unlikely) !!

Just a thought here TC

it couldn't be wax residue by chance??
or does it actually look like silver paint

The job was poorly made...
They don't inspect the job they do before delivery ?

Your dealer being aware of the bad quality of the work what did he propose to you TC ?

It isnt from the factory it is a bad repair paint job done by the bodyshop.

It is going to be put right along with the outer panels by an alternative bodyshop.

I will get there in the end

Hi Topcat

Was your repair carried out by APR Accident Repairs? I am sending my car there for my accident damage.

Hi Topcat

When you had your last accident was your wheel arch damaged. The paint on the wheelarch looks very uneven, almost bumpy, doesn't look very professional.

Hi Topcat

I'm sorry about the look of your paint job. I think your right to complain. I was just trying to work out if it was done when you had your accident with the white van.

Sadly no - it was done whilst putting the previous bad paint job right
