Hey there folks.

A few issues that I need your advice on:

1. chips
I have a few stone chips on the bonnet of my NHB civic. I have the touch up paint. Once touched up, what is the best product and procedure for blending in the touched up paint.

2. alloys
I am doing a lot of miles and my alloys have brake dust ground in. What are the best products for cleaning alloys

3. Are there any cleaning products that can not be used on the plastic "glass" panal below the spoiler?

4. Any fellow Irish please let me know what are the best products available in Eire

By the way, had my civic in the dealers today to get a broken spotlight replaced. Guess what the feckers gave me as a replacement car for the day................ a 07 Type R!!!!! What a stonker!!! Unreal acceleration in the first FIVE gears. Fantastic looker, great seats!!! Its a real licence killer!!

The "hoors" were trying to tempt me into buying one. When i brought it back, the dealer asked me if i when i was going to buy one!! I told i could hardly afford a bag of crisps at the moment let alone a €39K type R.

Thanks in advance for any advice

1. That depends on how well you have applied the touch up stuff.

2. Meguairs products seem to fare well here.

3. I use AutoGlym Glass Polish

4. I sometimes drink Magners, but that's as far as it gets!

Hi James,

I'm in Cork and would recomend the Meguairs 3 Step System. You can get this in Halfords for the 3 for 2 offer - works out about €18 for the 3. This is a paint cleaner, polish and Carnuba wax. Very good results on NHB. Takes a couple of hours to do the wash and 3 coats but last well. Last washed the car 4 weeks ago and even after all our rain its still beading very well. I always found autoglym good but not as long lasting as this stuff.

Yours so lucky to get a "R" for a courtesy car - when mine was in for dash replacement I got a bloody 3 year old Corsa!!! BY the way did you have to pay anything for it - I had to sort my own insurance out at a cost of €30!!

Cheers
Barry

Ive been using Autoglym polish on my alloys (the white and red bottle). It does a pretty good job when it comes to cleaning the muck off afterwards. I clean them once a week but dont do many miles, so it might not be so good if you do alot of driving.

Ive just ordered Poorboys alloy wheel sealant from ebay which was recommended by couple of guys of here. I havent got round to using it yet, but three coats of it is supposed to do a great job of protecting your alloys, even at heat, and also smells pretty good as well!!!!

If you want a linky to the guys ebay page let me know.

Cheers spud.
I will get the meguairs 3 step system. I did not have to pay anything for getting the windscreen replaced. I rang my dealer and they recommended a place they get all their honda's done.

On a much more important matter....... Are ye going to beat Waterford in the hurling?????
