Front-Rear and side Spoilers

Hi to all..
I have a Civic type S and I 'd like to ask if i can paint the spoilers(front,rear,side)..
I went to my dealer and said that these spoilers cannot be painted because its surface is not smooth, and when i ask him, why the typeR spoilers are color coded, he said that typeR has different spoilers( is made from other plastic) with smooth surface than typeS..He says that if i try to paint them, the panit will go off after a while(from cleaning under pressure or little rocks from the road etc..)
Do you think that i will have any problem with paint failures??

people have already had the bumpers painted, i will on my 'S' as well, as soon as the funds become available
yes the trim is smooth, but from what i understand all they do is sand it to give it a rough finish then paint it and so forth ( i might be wrong there)

It has been done, several pics on the forum.
Have a look in the gallery or search for "colour coded".

My trim was painted by a local bodyshop.
They said that they primed the trim and then sanded it smooth before applying the top coat.
The finished trim looks similar to the finish on the Type R and seems to be wearing OK so far
