Well, up until it started raining it looked very nice.

PS:...although there is a certain pleasure to be had from seeing all those globules of rain forming on the car and running away as they form to make larger globules...

I would have them but I replaced four on my last car through broken glass ,this time I decided they are not worth the hassle or the expense

I hate this time of year. Other than getting the dirt off I leave the detailing to the warmer (dryer) months.

I did mine today, washed it down with road grime remover (basically a weak alcohol solution I believe), then washed it, waxed it twice (all over), then glossed the bonnet (while waiting for it to dry (just the bonnet that is) the heavens opened!!!!!). God that road cr*p is a b*stard to get off [pardon the french it left my paintwork looking naff ], took almost 2 hours on it's own, but the car looks clean and more importantly with the gloss protection the water and c*ap runs off it now much easier.

Your car looks great, do you get many problems parking it on the road like that (just thinking of the gritting lorries (one went down the side of me the other day and showered me with salt, and minutly chipped my bonnet, managed to buff most of it out, just lucky it's only the size of a pin head, i know i'm ginjung about my car!)).

Personally I'd replace those covers with type R ones that are just the mesh look (they look more understated than the indented ones). I wish I'd never bothered with front fogs, but it came with the GT upgrade.

Same thing happened to me today, there wasn't a cloud in the sky when I started.

As for fog lamps, they where the only thing in the GT pack that I actually wanted, so I bought a standard and had the fogs as an option. I hardly ever use them but they look good

I cleaned mine today and thought I won't dry it off cos it looks like it will rain. Then it brightened up so I dryed it and polished it, then it threw it down. I think at this time of year it just about getting the salt and grime off, not that this logical approach will stop me from cleaning it as normal.

A mate of mine knows someone who works for the council driving gritting lorries. He says this guy actually admits he turns up the gritting rate if he sees a nice car approaching!!!! The T**T.

If I thought they'd done that I'd thrash them! I do accelerate to go past them, usually put my foot heavily down, that way they only get limited spray time on me. (Any way, I'll get my own back, maybe I'll throw a can into the feeder tube tick tick tick crunch ). Anyway grit doesn't actually do any good, at least not in any of the research I've read, if anything it's only their for the benefit of those without ABS now, as it actually causes ABS (in my experience) to kick in faster and cause more problems, a bit like the tarmac approaching junctions that they are now thinking of removing, because of the amount of research showing it actually increases breaking distances, not being silly though, if your sensible and you alter your speed and style according to the prevailing conditions there should be no need for any of it.

This time of year I wait for it to rain. Then I go out in the waterproofs with a bucket of carwash and my trusty brush and give it the once over and let the rain do the pre-soak and rinsing.

It takes about 15mins which is still too long in these temps.
