After detailing?

@ [robbo51]

Chris,

I'm going to have my Civic "Magic Detailed" on my trip to the UK later this year

To keep the paint finish up afterwards, what do I need to do ?

Would proper washing plus quick detailer be enough ?

I know nothing ! - would you explain the 'two bucket' method and whatever else I need?

(I bow to the Master !!!)

I'm not the master at all Derek...
Hope your recovering well BTW

1. Do you have a snow Foam lance/ Pressure washer?
2. Decent washing stuff..Like MF wash mitts/pads/Car Shampoo?
3. Once its detailed...you need a QD that is compatible with the LSP Matt used..Some QD's dont bead well with wax...better with Sealer IMO
4. You know I'm biased towards Bilt Hamber......Hydra Wax and their QD is simply the best combination of products Ive ever used
Is this OK for starters?
Until I know what bits and pieces you have already, its difficult to give the right advice

If youre having Crystal Rock applied, then you need a QD that will work with it
I'll do some research for you

Hi Derek, I got some good advice HERE but IMO now from having a go at this I would every now and then just use Bilt Hamber Hydra Wax and then just use either Bilt Hamber QD or AG Quick Detailer on every wash after drying the car down to keep up best results. Maybe once or twice a year I would apply AG SRP before the Hydra Wax but looking at the results I have HERE then I am very happy with the finish and please note the QD sprays work great on your glass as well.

THIS also works great on your wheels if they need a good clean and with very little effort.

Maybe the above are worth a try first as this might save some money if Derek is happy with the finish and results

Best way to keep it perfect is with a no contact washing technique - snow foam as Robbo said and jet wash.

When its dirty enough not to come clean with no contact then you want a micro fibre mit, 2 wash buckets (one wash / one rinse) grit guards and microfibre drying towels or better still an air dyrer (no h) for no contact drying.

Basically the less you contact the vehicle the better and if you have to, you want to ensure that you remove all grit and keep it away from the vehicle once removed (hence the grit guards to remove the grit and microfibre to envelop it).

Its also worth getting premium chemicals. I use BritemaX Clean Max Shampoo - expensive at nearly £30 a bottle but each wash only uses 1 fluid oz so economical in use. Guarantee you the best shine you've ever seen!

Bilberry is great for wheels.

Megs NXT glass cleaner great for inside glass.

Gliptone for leather.

Britemax twins for chrome triangles.

GTechniq C4 for external plastics / rubber.

GTechniq G3 / G4 for external glass nano coating.

CQuartz Iron X for thiose times when the wheels get so bad Bilberry doesn't shift it.

Nano Express is designed as a preserver for all of the Swissvax range, not just Crystal Rock. Since you're having a couple of layers too, your car is going to be well protected for 6mths+ (probably 8-9mths if well maintained). As of next week I'll be providing aftercare packs myself, as opposed to saying "buy this and that" etc. The packs will be comprised of products that are compatible with your detailing treatment and will be made up of products that I have used and recommend.

Excellent, Matt

I'll take your advice and buy some product packs - and perhaps a small amount of Crystal Wax ?
