nothing wrong with a sponge at all. i hate using washmitts, they are a pain to rinse out and start smelling after a while.
with thorough rinsing / foaming before touching a car, sponges are no more of a risk than washmitts
all imo of course

Great results Kev with top product. IMO Werkstat is the best for light coloured cars, and ZAINO are simple amazing.
How many layers of z2 applied?

Syx this is Zymol sponge designed not to scratch the paint.

Sorry..I really dont agree with what you say
You obviously are fairly experienced at car cleaning/valeting ....but then use a sponge, even a so called 'safe' Zymol one, because you cant clean out a washmitt properly?
They actually DO cause a problem to paintwork because grit can and does get caught in the surface of a sponge, whereas in a MF or Sheepskin mitt the grit falls away from the surface and is easily washed out in the second bucket
Get yourself a spin dryer and then pop the mitt in a tumble drier for 15 mins...back to perfect again..I never leave my wash pads to dry on their own and will NEVER use a sponge, even a Zymol OR a DJ Supernatural one....I really wouldnt trust it at all, paticularly on Honda Paint...You probably would get away with it on this BMW or a VAG car (Hard paint) Although I still would not be tempted
Get one of these instead:

You will never look back!!

Good work Kev, shame about the camera.

I've just done one of these. The spoke layout is a nightmare. The EZ brushes are too big to get between those narrow spokes. Even the smaller one doesn't fit Had to use a variety of brushes to get those bits clean. Comes as no surprise you struggled with the brake dust pitting, you were using Wolf's it's crap. I used RIM7 to get the worst off and clean the wheel, then upped the ante to Iron-X to get the rest out - wheels were perfect after, and they started off worse than those there (will post pics when I get 5mins to upload them).

When it comes to wash media, a Waschpudel is as short a pile as I dare go. Even with rinsing, pre-washing, more rinsing etc there is still dirt on the car. Swirl marks are almost unavoidable, but I do believe that the longer the pile, the lesser the risk.

thanks guys

robbo - we all have opinions and thats cool. I did'nt say that I 'can't' rinse washmitts out, ive basically never liked using them. sponges may keep dirt on the surface but with thorough foaming and rinsing, where would this 'grit' come from?? yes, foaming does'nt remove all dirt but there should'nt really be much left over..
anyway, thats my opinion and i'll be sticking to sponges
ive also used noddle type mitts and pads and wool pads
