It's amazing how much contamination your car picks up if you don't have a garage. Also I used to park my Focus in a railway car park & I'm convinced that passing trains used to throw up something from the tracks onto my car. I couldn't remove it by polishing or using sap remover. Claying would have done the trick though. I was so impressed by it that I also clayed my wife's car the next day! Charles would have been proud of me...

I've their sealant/wax coming as well as new shampoo - so reviews/reports on those as and when tested, etc.
Ordered two bars today by phone mentioned this site, and PJS,and got a discount ,including posting £19.00.

I'll let you about the results, Great British weather permitting, I'm not expecting too much as she has been washed every week from new, polished, waxed and sealed and then waxed every 3rd wash.

Even with this regime and 11k on the clock I have noticed some little hard specs, especially around the bottom of the door panels, that are hard to remove, finger nail job usually.

If you are talking about the last couple of years, then no.
If you are talking about a few years ago, then yes.

The old slam door trains used to have cast iron brake blocks. So every time the brakes were applied, i.e. running into a station, the blocks would rub against the wheels, slowing the train and giving off lots of small iron fillings.
They were a right sod to get off car paint work, and I was unlucky enough to have a white car parked next to a railway line

I, foolishly, parked in Renfield St., Glasgow on Sunday - delighted to get a space in the City Centre.
Not so delighted when I came back to discover the car with a fair thickness of dust on it.
I hadn't realised I was downwind of the demolition of the old STV offices in Renfrew St.
Still - perhaps some of it was dust from former news lovelies, Shereen Nanjiani or big blonde Sarah Heaney!
Mmmm - maybe that's NOT such a nice thought.

Still had to wash the bloody thing (again) later!

Yeah we're talking about 6 or 7 years ago, so that would make sense. Also I think they spray something gritty on the rails in winter to improve traction, so some of that could fly off. The car park is right next to the track, separated by a wire fence.

The stuff you talk of is sandite, a sticky sand laid on the track in the autumn, but I never had a problem with that. During the winter a oily de-icing fluid is sprayed on the conductor rail, that could make a mess.
The worst of all, and something that thankfully doesn't happen with the new trains, is the waste from the toilet being sprayed on the track from a passing train. That could be particularly unpleasant if your car was close by

It's certainly worth the time, money and effort for the end result, I managed a glass like finish and to be honest if I spot tar when I'm washing a use some clay. After using the Bilt Hamber bar I wouldn't even bother ever trying out an alternative. Thanks for your help/advice.
Just thought I'd share that, to update this thread, which I linked to another one.
