Gtechniq G5

I tried some of this on my front and rear screens last week to see what is was like.

After a week I decided to do the rest of my windows.

I think after a week on my front and rear screens it could do with a top up, can this be done or do I have to remove the coating already on or can I apply on top?

It can be topped up, but I would question why it needs topping up after a week. I would strip back & start again.
Wash screen & apply APC to strip.
Clay
wash
dry
Glass polish
IPA wipedown
Appply G5

Mine still going strong after 3 months

It's still doing its job, obviously the other windows have the fresh coat and look as if it's beading off better.

Maybe I'll strip it off and give the screens a clay.

Bit off putting driving on the motorway last week after first putting it on, too busy watching the rain slide off the windscreen instead of watching the road!

How long did you leave it before buffing it Shaun?

Prep is the key, good prep & the G5 will last 3+ months. I left it for 10 minutes before buffing off. On the motorway I did not need to use my wipers

I wouldnt bother claying but a good glass polish and followed by a good wipe with IPA is essential

Please can you name a decent glass polish?
Do you need to use the residue cleaner after g5 has been applied like g1.

+1 for claying if your polishing by hand

No, once the G5 has been applied & buffed off then job is done.

Applied this yesterday. Went through the stages and all was well up until that point.

Last night noticed the windows we streaky under the street lighting. So buffed it off with a micro fibre.

Then woke up this morning to do the paper run and found that the misting on the windows were worse than normal. Had to put the wipers on for 5 minutes till the heaters fired up. Couldn't see a thing at times.

Starting to think i've maybe left the product on too long. It was hard to remove after I had applied. Watched the G1 video and they say this can happen with G1. Don't know if G5 is the same.

Never had a prob with G5, sounds like too much product. Did you clean & prep the screen & IPA wipedown before applying?

Yeah, they were spotless. Windows were washed, dried, polished with G4, IPA'd, then applied the G5.

Might have used too much. I used a dab for each side window, and 2 for the back and front (left and right sides).

Will try it more sparingly next time.
