Not bad for Turtle wax

I admit i am no detailer, simply dont have the patience for it, but 1 x rinse, 1x wash, dry with shammy leather, Red turtle wax, and waitrose glass cleaner for widscreen, roof and windows.
I dont think it came up too badly, especially as its bloomin hot out there
Havent got round to doing the back to black stuff on my plastics yet though,

phone july 2012 004.jpg

appologies for rubbish photo, used my phone and sun was reflecting off screen!!

If I may offer some advice to a self confessed non detailer:
1. Ditch the Chamois leather..Honda paint is just too soft for one..Microfibre drying towel is a must
2. Ditch the horrid red TW Wax..it really is poor stuff
3. Buy some Autoglym polish from Halfords..its all you will need if youre not into detailing
4. Back to black is rubbish too...Get some Autoglym Bumper Care instead

I always thought coloured wax was better? thought it stopped the car fading to pink??
Ill try your recommendations next time, see if its better (if your a detailer i expect you to be right) so thank you.

now without telling you what shampoo i use, as no doubt its not up to scratch ( im just saying its not a supermarket own brand!) whats the best shampoo to use when you have to wash the car using buckets, ( dont have power washer, way too expensive)

saying that i just checked, im not using turtle shampoo ( what ive always used), currently using Simoniz.... Is that stuff any good?

Meguiars Gold Class Shampoo from Halfords
Ive been using it for years
There are others that will come along and try to convince you to get 'other' shampoos...AGGCS is seriously good!!

thank you guys

looks like i have a trip to halfords pending,
Meguiars Gold Class Shampoo
Autoglym polish
Autoglym Bumper Care
Microfibre drying towel

To be honest this is probably the first time ive used the chamois on this car, only used it as the car was drying so quickly in the heat i was getting streaks.
Im guessing a polish aplicator is best used for the polish? current one is stained red!

looking forward to seeing the reuslts now, may have to wash the car again tomorrow just so i can try out the recomendations.

will have to post better pics with better results

any recomendations, bearing in mind im no detailer, whats the best stuff/brand to get out of halfords which need nothing more than micro cloths and elbow grease (have been tempted with a mechanical polisher as it seems to be a easier option, at least on the elbows, but knowing my luck i'll ruin the paintwork!)
you'll probably wince when i say it but i've always used turtle wax,

I found the best cure for streaks is a bucket of cool water and a microbfibre.
Just soak the micro to go over the car and while wet ....squeeze out the microfibre and wipe dry.

Probably bad...but works for me.

But I use fairy liquid too.....so probably best not to listen to me

If drying use a micro drying towel. I still use my chamois for wheels as i dont want my nice white drying towel getting dirty, theres always a bit on wheels i miss. Just get a shampoo, srp and auto glyms extra gloss protection. Best stuff if your not gonna go mad into detailing. That should protect and give a decent shine.

a good sealant would be fk1000p the tub is MASSIVE if you ever use it all id be suprised! sharp reflections and so easy to use (apply light leave to cure/haze buff off) its only like £18 bargain of the year!

Remember the two bucket method to wash aswell that is crucial!

Apparent Gtechniq P1 polish is good at removing (not filling swirls like srp) by hand but it will take a long time and alot of elbow grease but worth a thought!

Hi, 1 bucket with your shampoo mix in and 1 bucket with clean water only. Wash panel at a time then rinse off in the clean water to remove any dirt, then back into your shampoo wash another panel then rinse in the clean water, you get the drift? Basically you are not cross contaminating your good shampoo with dirt as that's being rinsed out in the clean water. By the way dont use a sponge, use a wash mitt. Just search on you tube if you want to see it in action. Hope that helps you.

Not sure if this is much help to everyone but on some things even with paying P+P they work out cheaper than Halfords but for people in and around Stoke On Trent then Holdcrofts are well worth a visit as with not having to pay P+P they are pretty cheap.

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Holdcrofts/...Autosmart.html

For anyone thinking of nipping down its the Nissan Branch on Leek Rd, Hanley, just go to service and ask for someone from Parts and just tell them what you want.

Stu
