Patting dry is a known technique..if a little slow
Personally..I dont with my present car....but it is to be recommended on Honda thin/soft paint

I saw the programme last week. I have never patted the car dry with my drying towel. I lay it on top of the wet are & just drag it accross to dry it - no swirls or scratches

Same for me, lay woolly and pull away. Made me laugh though when he said 5 minutes to polish the whole boot lid. Longer than that I'm sure

I wipe the car down with a microfibre towel. No pressure applied onto the car.
