Lightbulb need help on engine bay cleaning !!

I have a 2.2 ctdi and my engine bay from previous owner obviously didn't look after it so i thought id treat it to a good clean and shine so i had the car done inside and out but left the engine bay to myself because ive heard that people ise wrong stuff and messes with electricits and so on so i thought id do it myslef so wondering on wat should i use and wats good and wats not .
Advice please

Engine bay clean

Nothing more than a degreaser, some brushes, metal polish, engine bay protectant & old damp rags

Ahh thanks guys, so id get this stuff, degrease the engine bay then wet cloth it then use the stuff above yes? Or a better procedure?

Get some degreaser, squirt it about. Then agitate with brushes & clean off. Once you are happy then spray on the protectant & jobs a good un

All over or avoiding battery and electrics yes or?
Will be buying some protectant and posting pictures before and after
