Gracenote update

Has anyone managed to update the Gracenote database on the HDD navigation unit? Some of my CDs aren't in the database and adding all the info is a pain. I've found some databases for the American Pilot and Odyssey but they don't work. I also found a web snippet on the Gracenote website that suggested the new civics would be able to update via mobile internet access but I don't think it has been implemented. The database version is in the 3000s but the American databases are well into the 4000s so our version seems a bit old, which I'm not happy about.

An old post but I'm in the same situation.

The Navteq site says that quarterly updates are available but this seems to be for the US only.

Be useful to be able to download an update rather than go via a dealer all the time.

I've followed the link to NavTeq from the above post and it does indeed link to an updated (April 2013) Gracenote file that looks to be compatible with MY12 and 13 UK Civics (and other Hondas).

It's only a 618Mb download

I'm downloading it now but will not get chance to do anything till the weekend. Full instructions on the NavTeq site here:

http://www.navigation.com/is-bin/INT...teqEurope-Site

First test for me will be to see if it recognises the 'War of the Worlds Next Generation' CD as that wasn't on my Gracenote version.

Can't find the link on that page to download the winzip file. I have tried 3 browsers without success. Where is it hidden?

If your on XP or 7 you should be able to right click the file and there should be an option to UnZip or Extract files via the OS.

I've never used a third party app to unzip my files.

I've got the download and unzipped it and all looks like it should

If anyone beats me to it and it works I'll look to making this a sticky.

I assume you are talking about the link ' Gracenote Update File (459MB)'
I do not get any joy in trying to save that link. Just saves the URL for the page we are on. Have tried Windows XP, 7 and 8 with browsers IE, Chrome and Firefox.

The page to go to is here:

NAVTEQ - Maps for your Navigation System

Then use the download link on that page titled "Click here to download the Gracenote® file".

ps: I've just noted that the 'here' in the above line does download the file (bonus)

First attempt failed:

Downloaded and written to CDR via ImgBurn.

Disc read, produced "Check Disk" message and spat it out

Having 6303 could be the problem. The one being downloaded is 5301. I did see a note that said older databases would be rejected.

I did make a mental note of mine but forgot to compare it

I bet I've got the same issue. according to NavTeq the next update will be April 2013 !!

I would say that looking at the version numbers the one from NavTeq is older than what we have already installed. Strange that we have the same versions as my Civic is a year older than yours (Reg. Mar 2012)

It seems we finally have success.

I spotted yesterday that the Gracenote file had been updated and Alan2605 has successfully update his database with it.
