The database is not a 'standard' sort of layout, and has compression on areas (looks like standard LZH stuff). I'm trying to work out if the new 3.22 disk has a newer version of the windows ce kernel on it (4.2 SP3 or higher), as the 3.6 one is 4.2 SP1 and a lot more work to do stuff to. I've sorta got a way to launch other 3rd party compiled applications up, need some more work, but I want the latest Windows CE, as I can use .Net CF then instead of writing everything in C (and my C skill's are very rusty!) If anyone is willing to let me have a copy of the Kernel area, and/or the database for the map data/poi's then I can dig a bit deeper. |

Loaded my 3.22 this morning.
Removed 3.05, inserted new WE 3.22, got a message that the new firmware was older than the old firmware but after a few seconds it continued anyway with the 'don't turn off' message. Rebooted and the diagnostic menu looks correct for the new DVD. Strange about the firmware error message though ! |

Well it rebooted and loaded the map and got my location correct
If I don't post anything tomorrow morning then can you send out a search party ? Even though I think I know where I live I'm going to use the "Go Home" command later and see where I end up. |
