Mine is a March 2007 model and that seems to be auto on. Boot light does not work though - but I do not believe the cable is even connected to the light. Anyone suffered that from new?

Voted yes, March '07 2.2 Sport.

Just an observation - is it only the diesels that have this ? The last model Mondeo was the same - only had the feature on Diesels for some reason - go figure.

ok.........

numbers so far:
1.8 replies = 11
1.8 with auto = 0
1.8 without auto = 11

2.2 replies = 21
2.2 with auto = 18
2.2 without auto = 3
interestingly, the 3 which said no were:
'07 Type S - 1 other owner of exactly the same model said yes
'07 EX - 2 other owners of exactly the same model said yes
'06 Sport - 1 other owner of exactly the same model said yes

amongst the 18 2.2 yes answers, there was a good range of model types

So.

from the (admitedly small) sample so far, it would appear that:
1.8s don't get this feature
2.2s do, on all models, but there are a few out there for whom it doesn't work!

keep 'em coming (please), and MANY thanks for all replies so far!

This could lead to the solution where some have posted radio reception problems when the rear screen heater is on (ala TC earlier).

Mine doesn't and the radio reception is no worse than my last car with a proper roof aerial.

and..........

Isn't there a thread about 2.2 battery problems ?

there is indeed Krem...

although I can't say that my radio reception seems to be any different whether the HRW is on or not, if something is wrong somewhere I guess this could be a potential cause

Next question - presuming this is correct - why would they fit this on the diesel but not the petrol?

Answers on a postcard...

You are the only R owner to have answered so far, and I got a bit carried away when I spotted the 1.8 vs 2.2 split
