It's a good idea -- I prefer the air vent one myself. I have one of these type spare somewhere unused, so PM me if youre after one..

Lady H. would take that out with her leg every time she got into the car.
Just straight Velcro with double sided attached could be fitted at a less 'prone to be knocked off' place. W.H. Smiths do that sort of thing. "They took up a collection for a girl in our office. We didn't get enough to get one unfortunatly!" |

It's surprising how much 'out of the way' these clips are.
I usually have the phone on the lower one and it has never been knocked by a passenger. The Velcro I have used is the heavy duty stuff that comes on a roll from B&Q. It's the perfect width. |

TomTom on Brodit
I have the Brodit mount which fits just to the left of the gearstick (first pic) it looks like it would get in the way, but with a tomtom go520 mounted on it it's fine. No one has hit it with legs or anything and its away from your hand when changing gear. I had a Brodit mount in my last car and will have another in my next one. A big
