No SatNav disc

I picked up my new Type R yesterday only to be told that the SatNav disc had not been fitted and is on back order (available in about a week)!! As the SatNav is obviously a factory fit option I would have thought the disc would be fitted at the same time as the unit?

Normally you should get the disc with the car.

Perhaps they are short of the new discs?

I would also have thought the disc was supplied with the car, but maybe the dealer puts the disc in.

This disk would have been in the pre-delivery pack which has the handbook etc. in it.

Sounds like you had one of the latest disks and one of the stealers has had it for themselves! Cheeky F**kers!

There is allegedy a "tea leaf" about who is currently swiping sat nav discs out of new cars at the moment before they get to the dealers and flogging them on e-bay!! Thats why they are on backorder at the moment as demand has suddenly shot up and the stock wasn't in place to keep up!!

or the dealer has used it in one of there demo cars to show how good the new disk is, as it now show mac d's in the u.k and your local pub instead of going to wales.

The guy did say that he tried using discs from other cars but they did not work in the Type R and he did say something about ebay.
Just in case he tries to fob me of with an old disc does anyone know the latest version?

The car comes from the factory with the dics in it. If they were missing on delivery to the dealer, they should have notified the transport company.

I have handed several sat nav equipped 08 my civics this month, all of which have had two discs.

Which dealership supplied your car??

G & M Motors Gravesend. They had treated me ok up until the handover but they said the technician only informed them (sales) the day before I picked it up and it gave them no time to get a replacement. I was a bit surprised as I was not told until I had paid the balance. They said they would give me a call when they arrived (about a week). I had politely enquired about a set of rubber (winter) mats at a discount before the news about the satnav and was told they were £66 and to ask the sales manager. In the confusion (and itching to drive away my shiny new toy) I forgot to mention it before I drove off. I wish I had pressed them to give them to me for nothing because of what had happened.

There really does seem to be some sort of security problem with these Sat Nav disks. With most new cars arriving with 30+ miles on the clock they have obviously been shunted around since their original delivery. It is probably unlikely the second delivery location will re-check everything and the second stage delivery drivers know this.

As you know I had the same problem. Missing disks are really getting to common to be acceptable any longer.

Are we are allowed to make a back up of the DVDs? Europe West is 7GB and Europe East 5GB so both fit OK on a standard DVD+R DL. It would keep one operational while in the long Honda queue for a replacement.

At least no one can open the DVD drawer without a key in the ignition. Although I suppose if they wanted them they would just rip out the entire unit and open it elsewhere. Still the way things are at the moment they would most likely be disappointed to find no DVD or only an old one!

I've just had a conversation with HUK and they are saying the disc will take two weeks as its coming from Belgium. To say I am p*ssed off is an understatement!!!!

I pointed out to HUK that I have paid £1400 for this option which by all accounts should have been checked on route to the dealer. HUK told me they would not be able to tell me how or where the disc had gone missing but to be honest I don't care.

I was surprised when I was told that they would try to take a disc out of another Type R and install in into mine but as I pointed out that will just shift the problem onto some other poor sod!!!

I would be interested to hear from any dealers on here why a stock of discs are not kept in the UK and why it takes so long to get one even if it does have to come all the way from Belgium.

Interesting it had to come from Belgium... I upgraded my Sony GPS software last year (which also uses Navtec) and I had a whole load of issues to get Sony to send me a CD from Belgium... Only way I succeeded was to have a bit of a Dickie fit and then they jumped through hoops for me with regular up dates of where it was in transit etc.. Apparently it was all down to some issue with export duty to the Channel Islands...

Cheers,

Bob...

defnitely push for those mats and anything else you can get, well out of order that you spend approx 20k on a car and they do this.

The dealer has told me that HUK have admitted responsibility. I told the person at HUK that I was not happy and enquired about the possibility of compensation but all they offered me was the loan of a portable SatNav for the weekend!!

I think they have missed the point and have just added insult to injury.

However, I am not giving up and I will keep on at them.
