Sure you could wait for the 3rd version where they fix the camera (hopefully mms support will happen as an update soon) But I didn't jump straight on which was pretty good will power for me!

at £159 for a phone AND iPod that is pretty good! (I already pay a £30 a month contract so that's fine by me!)

The MackBook comes in WHITE for the base model and BLACK OR WHITE for the more powerful version.

And the there's this from the Apple website:

Me too...

I just hope it doesn't take them too long to jailbreak the v2.0 firmware.

Being in Australia (where the 1st gen was never released) means that I HAVE to have mine jailbroken so I can't upgrade to the new firmware until someone hacks it.

Dension 100 and the DICE R3/R4 systems support iphone. a few users on here have them installed. The DICE system works best as you can still control you ipod easier (although with the dension you can still do this but its a few button presses before you can control)

Spoke to a bloke in O2 store today - 8GB's are white, 16GB's are Black. That's it....no choices. He also said that he's "more than very doubtful (?!) that the 16GB versions will be available on Launch day"...

When the HUGE update is released on 11th July for my iPhone, I'm gonna do a straight comparison with the new model as my missus is getting hers first thing Launch day (11th July also)....If there's no massive difference in speed, then to be fair, I'm seriously in two minds wether to even bother getting the newer version....

Mine now is plenty quick enough for using internet, especially when the 'Edge' is active....and to be fair, theres sooo many free WIFI hotspots now, I'm generally using that connection anyway!! SO I can't really see that I'm gonna benefit at all from the fact that the newer version is 3G over the 'Edge' version I have now...

AND whilst I'm on this rant - the iPhone has received no end of slagging because of it's camera...I took several shots with mine yesterday of my bosses car, and they are more than adequate photos...I mean, in the real world, how many people have their phone as their 'main camera'?? I'm not saying that having a 5 megapixel phone isn't a good thing, thats great, but I reckon 3/4 of the people that have a phone with that capability also have a camera, which they'd use in preference if they knew they were gonna take a shot that needed blowing up to the huge size a 5 megapixel shot is capable of taking.....

This is a couple of the shots I took with iPhone yesterday, and due to forum rules, I've had to make them smaller - viewing it on the iPhone's screen, it looks brilliant.

Funny considering that according to Apple and every other Telco in the world, the 8GB model does not come in white at all....

Oh and the 16 comes in Black OR White but I wouldn't be surprised to find that some Telcos are only offering one or the other.

Regardless - all 8GB models will be BLACK - I guarantee it....

I know I've posted this pic before, but it's taken directly from the Apple website:

iphone 3g.jpg

The wording on the UK site is different - they spell "color" correctly - with a "U"

Pretty sure your Missus is gonna be smiling

PS: I'm with you fully on the whole upgrade thing. I'm more than happy with my 1st gen so the new one is going to have to be a hell of a lot better to get my to fork out more $$$.

mms, no the new one doesn't..yet...apple WILL sort this soon though in a firmware update.

As for mp3 tones - I've been using 'em for ages....go to google and search for a program called iToner ... Its simplicity itself, and works a treat!!!

Or even easier, just use iTunes to create ringtones using any song in your Library, by simply doing the following:

1. Click on iTunes – Library
2. Click the song you’d like to edit
3. Locate the start and end times of the selection you want. To do this, move the iTunes playback head (at the top of iTunes) to the start of the selection and note the start time. Then move the playback head to the end of the selection and note the end (stop) time.
4. Click on File – Get Info – Options
5. Click on Start Time and enter the start time you noted
6. Click on Stop Time and enter the end time you noted
7. Click on OK
8. Click on iTunes – Preferences – Importing
9. In Import Using, click on AAC Encoder
10. Click on OK
11. Click on iTunes – Advanced – Convert Selection to AAC
12. Right click the new AAC track and choose to find file using windows explorer
13. Rename the new AAC track as a .m4r
14. Double click the new .m4r which will open up into the ringtones section of iTunes
15. Sync new ringtone to iphone

Easy as that, remember though the iPhone will only ring for about 35 seconds before transferring to voicemail so make sure you condense the ringtone down to your favourite 35 seconds worth

Not me , more than happy with my 16GB iPhone, once i've done the latest 2.0 software update it'll be virtually the same anyway and seeing as there are wifi hotspots almost everywhere I use it I'll doubt I'll miss not having 3g

Yep, I'm in the same boat - more than happy with mine, and will be everybit as good with the V2 software....and as O2 has done the deal with BT Openzone now, theres gonna be hardly anytimes when I'm NOT using Cloud or Openzone which is quicker (obviously) than both 'Edge' & 3G!!!

Heres the story in case you've missed it...

O2 Gives BT OpenZone Access To All iPhone Users - TrustedReviews

Furthermore, if I put my esthetic head on....I actually prefer the brushed metal finish of mine to the glossy white or black of the newer ones....

As I said before, the missus is getting her new 8GB on Friday, so I'll straight compare the two ASAP.....

We had to go from Notts to Hampshire the other day to collect a prisoner (our cars DON'T have sat nav!!)....so I used the Google Maps feature on my iPhone and its 'Directions' feature.....absolutely spot on mate - obviously you can only use this to its full effect if you've got a passenger with you to progress it to the next 'waypoint'/turn, but other than that, simply brilliant.
