Phone Watch out if you fit your own hands free kit

Hi,

New to the site but I thought you'd better hear of this tale of stupidity.

Wife was on at me to fit a hands free kit to her 55 plate ES. Went out and bought a Sony Ericsson and proceeded to install. Theres a website telling you how to take the dash apart which I used and got the whole thing installed in 2 hrs. Only trouble I had was the drivers side undertrim which needed a thump with a fist to get the clips in ( there's a clue here)

. Got everything back together, key in ignition, push red fun button, engine started and then died... tried to start but no firing of engine. Spent three hours trying everything, including removing the hands free kit, but to no avail. Finally gave up and called the Honda assist. They sent an AA man round who fixed it in 2 minutes. Apparently when I put the dash back with the fist I scared the crash sensor (not the technical term) which popped the emergancey fuel cut-off valve. The reset is on the driver side above the fuse box..Thankfully the AA man had a sense of humour and put in his report a blown fuse. So.. if your fitting a unit like I have, don't wack the dash, it makes the car real nervous!!

I like that story, sounds like a past encounter I had with a fuel cut off switch on an Escort RS Turbo a long time ago...... ohh the inanity of it all

I did exactly the same when I wired in my Talex

Thumping the offside triangle piece back into place triggered the cutoff.

How do you take the dash apart to fit the HF kit? is it the same way mentioned in the How to here where you start with remving the centre console???
