Kind of a split post, 1/2 on topic, 1/2 off. Sorry in advance. The microphone thing is really getting on my t**s now, did the picture of the car with the mic on the dash claim it was a Honda fix, or is that something a bit heath robinson.

I have since mailed Honda CS, explaining my anger at the ongoing farce concerning this matter, I wouldn't mind but I use the car a lot for work, I can't make or receive calls as I spend most time on motorways, the company is potentially losing out due to this and its embarassing when customers call, its hardly proffessional to sound like you are stuck down a well and shouting at them.

I was thinking back to an issue I had with the Laguna, engine related, and the lease company said that if I wanted to they would write to Renault and reject the car, this was some 6 months into the contract. As Honda are aware of the problem, are doing little or nothing to sort it out and the HFT is clearly not able to function as it should are there grounds to reject the car now, I got it at the end of April. I wouldn't mind but I chose the EX partly because of the HFT so i did not have to have a cradle fitted.

Now the off topic part, re the fog lamps, this also angers me somewhat as it seems the dealer is lifting my leg, howver, the car is being collected on Thursday next and is going to an approved body shop for the fog lamp replacing and the stone chip repairing, thats what happens when the company insist all body work goes through our accident management people, I wonder how much they are making.

Certainly agree - it is an quite an easy job, you don't even need to get the car on a ramp as long as you remember the blue tack

Got a reply from Honda CS this morning, apparantly "a colleague" had informed her I had a problem with the unit mounted on the A pillar, which now has the counter measure introduced. If they just picked up the f'ing phone rather than trying to hide behind the invisibility cloak of an email, they could have checked they understood the problem, before solving the wrong one. But the good news, anyone has the after market kit from Honda fitted it has a counter measure ow so will be better, some bloody use for me. I am livid.

Any thoughts on trying to give the car back?

This sounds really frustrating - have you tried to speak to Steve Oliver (he's in charge of CS)? Might be worth a shot.

I have asked for someone to call me in relation to the ongoing problem, preferably someone in charge. I will wait, see whether they actually understand the concept of customer service.

Give it to them, Richie. Theres too much of this fobbing off. They try and get you fed up, and in the end giving up. I mean the industry in general, not just Honda.

Well that is interesting. I've ordered the bluetooth kit from Honda for my 1.8 Sport. I'll have to ask them about this.

Just spoken to the lease company I got the car from to see if I can get them to back me up, they want to get the car into an independent Honda garage (not linked to where I sourced it, or have already spoken to) get them to call their boss from the car, accept there is an issue, then they will submit a report to Honda.

Can I ask you all a favour, those of you who have had issues with the HFT (whether you have "fixed" it yourself or not) please PM me with a brief description of the problem, I will then at least gauge from the response how much of an issue this is, and can then talk with some confidence it ain't just me.

I'm confused, What is the unit mounted on the A pillar? cause I don't think I have anything on the A pillar and what is the 'counter measure' that has been introduced?

It is an option. 08E00-SMG-KIT2 to be exact. Only available for Civics without the SatNav since they have the built-in bluetooth hands-free system.

Does this mean that there is a little bit of confusion in this thread about microphone levels as there seems to be two different systems (With and without satnav) in use?

Anybody know what the fix is?

I will get some photos of the unit mounted on the A pillar tomorrow if you like?

I think the biggest issues are surrounding the car kit with the satnav, as opposed to the other one, why the unit supplied without sat nav has the mic on the A pillar and the satnav system doesn't I don't know. I would imagine the system with the A pillar mic should be spot on, its where most car kits are installed.

Anyone having issues with the car kit with the mic on the A pillar?

Obviously not. Waited till this morning to call, having waited 4 days since post above. Left message with number to call me back, got the usual "they're on another call", called back at 2:45 having heard nothing and asked for a call before 3pm, rang again, 4:25, spoke to same person, they gave the person in question the note and would have expected them to call back. Unfortunately as a corporate customer you can't just speak to anyone. It seems as a corporate customer you can expect to be treat like s**t and given the run around. I have now insisted that the person in charge gives me a call when they return tomorrow. Richierich is not a happy camper, still deep breaths, and forget about that, off to eat at Raymond Blancs place this evening (Le Manoir) that should take my mind off it.

STOP PRESS!!

Just had a call from the person in question........ I will keep you posted. There might be a short term fix, to tide things over with a view to a long term fix to follow.

Off topic, sorry. But I can highly recommend Le Manoir Aux Quat'Saisons for special occasions, very special occasions. Amazing food, wonderful surroundings, once in a life time. It felt a bit odd parking the Civic between a Bentley Continental and a Ferrari 360 Spyder, there were plenty of parking spaces elsewhere, just wanted to make the Civic feel amongst good company too.
