Door Super Locks
Hello Everyone,
I'm from Portugal and just got (yesterday) my new Civic 1.8 Executive. One of the things that i've come up to are the "Super Locks" for the doors. What is this??? Is this the term used for central locking the car? If not, what are they for, how are they activated\desactivated and what is the difference to locking the car with the remote comand on the car key? (I'm sorry for any mistakes) |

Welcome! From memory the "super locks" are just dead locks and can be set by pressing the key button twice. When the super locks are on, you cannot open a door from the inside, so it stops someone from breaking a window and opening the door that way (they have to get in and out through the broken window).

Ok, so with : - Normal locks, the alarm goes off if I brake a window and open the door from the inside. - "Super locks", can't open door from inside, but does the alarm work since the door doesnt open and I do not have the "motion detector" ???? hummmmmmmm |

Well from your Sig you have an EX right? if so the EX has Cat 1 alarm with motion and sonic (glass break) sensors, so you'll be OK. Superlock won't stop a thief but will slow down if they get in the window and try to open door to get large items out. Cat 1 should stop them from diving away though.

One big fault with the alarm ive found out from review of the civic is that the alarms mite be good at sensing movement they say but beens there is no battery back up its all to easy to slince so as said by kqow it mite help to stop then driving it away or even deter the easy theift but not the harden theift. Another corner cut by honda

Does anybody use this option then - putting the super locks on? I don't know whether to lock my car once or twice now! Doesn't explain very well in the manual.
Surely if it benefits you, why wouldn't they have made it as standard?? |

IWANTACIVIC, do you think the proffesional thief would steal a Civic for financial gain???? Merc BMW etc. yes but Civics I think not, more you opportunist and they won't get past the Cat 1 in a hurry. When the R comes out that would be a different matter, but will still have to have a Cat1 fitted plus maybe a tracker for the insurance bods. |

I can't think of any reason why anyone wouldn't want to engage the superlocks. In fact, I don't know why more manufacturers don't engage deadlocks by default, instead of requiring a second keyfob push. The second push could be to disable the superlocks in case you want to leave someone in the car or something...
My father-in-law's Vectra has a similar setup whereby you push the fob a second time to deadlock the car. It doesn't matter how many times you tell him, it doesn't go in. I'm sure there are many other people that do the same, through ignorance. |

depends on the car - and more importantly your age and where you live, Wooly
It's not normally a question of decreasing the premium - just that some companies won't quote at all* without one being fitted * depending on the factors at the top this cropped up a lot on my previous on-line home. most oweners got quotes without them, but for some it was the only way they could get insured at all Which then prompted a huge debate about "would you want it back if it got nicked" - but that's a different thread entirely |

Wonder what that makes the Civic & S2000, not desirable, hard to nick or is it the Preston area. Perhaps all of them ? (Now don't know if a smiley smile, confused or glum is appropriate - oh sod it

Does anyone know if the FN2 has super locks? i pressed the key lock twice... to activate the super locks then as the manual suggested tried opening the door from the inside and suprised that it open from the inside...
does anyone know how to activate super locks if indeed the FN2 has this at all. Cheers. Nitin. Ps i am not living in the UK, non-UK Fn2's may not have this. |
