I've followed the instructions for the auto-unlocking and ... its working!

Now, all we've got to do is kidnap one of Honda enginers so we may find out other tricks!

Around 5 or 6 seconds,
Ignition on (pos II, ready to start); press the door lock button beside the window switches and hold for 5-6 secs (you will hear the locks fire when it's done); then turn the Ignition off. Job done.
Choices:
Auto lock on = Drivers door closed and press the lock side of the button
Auto lock off = Drivers door open and press the lock side of the button

Auto unlock on = Drivers door closed and press the unlock side of the button
Auto unlock off = Drivers door open and press the unlock side of the button

You can have both on or off or a combination as you choose

Maybe that's why I had to try it 2-3 times.
I still can't get it turned off mind; but I only tried it the once (3 times to turn it on)

Then again; why would I want too?

I just know want to know how to get to the diag menu on the non sat-nav and I'd love to be able to make the speedometer read less over than it does currently.

Got if working (Auto unlock). Good info.

To those asking how long you need to hold the button, well the easy answer is "until you here the lock/unlock sound again"

When you press the button you here the sound right away, now keep it pressed until you here it again.... simple really.

PS. Maybe its now time to clean this topic up and post the definative info on the first page of how to activate Auto locking and Auto un-locking and how to switch them off. The info is all here so wont take much. Just a simple post that reads....

Quote:
To enable and disable Auto Locking and Auto unlocking

To turn on auto-locking at 10mph (16kph)
- Close the driver's door
- Put the key into position II
- Hold down the door lock button until you hear two sets of "locking" noises. This takes about 6 seconds**.
- Turn the key back to position I

To turn on auto-unlocking when turning off the ignition
- Close the driver's door
- Put the key into position II
- Hold down the door unlock button until you hear two sets of "unlocking" noises. This takes about 6 seconds**.
- Turn the key back to position I

To turn off auto-locking at 10mph (16kph)
- Open the driver's door
- Put the key into position II
- Hold down the door lock button until you hear two sets of "locking" noises. This takes about 6 seconds**.
- Turn the key back to position I

To turn off auto-unlocking when turning off the ignition

- Hold down the door unlock button until you hear two sets of "unlocking" noises. This takes about 6 seconds**.

**When you press the button you will hear the door locks activate right away. Keep the button pressed until you here the same noise again, this should be around 6 or 7 seconds.
A post like the above on the first page will save others having to trawl through 3+ pages .

Just collected my car to be informed by the garage that they had read this thread on the forum and had gone out that day and set all the locks on the Civics on the forecourt to lock automatically.

The forum's fame and influence is growing!

Auto unlock?

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone knew whether there is a safety feature with the auto door locking. I currently drive a MINI and that can be programmed to auto lock once you have reached 12mph. Apparently if the car senses a collision or other accident, the car will automatically unlock and hazards start flashing.

I hope no-one has had to actually experience this, just wandered if anyone had any knowledge. Nothing in the Civic brochure I can see. Hopefully ordering a diesel EX next week and wanted to check this out first.

Thanks.

I know my Laguna had this as a feature of the autolock, but not sure about the Civic. I tried the brakes out last week gave the middle pedal a right stamp and was pleasantly surprised. Didn't recall the hazards flashing though.
