Honda HFT Any good, or any good alternatives..

Hi all,

I pick up the car on Friday and am looking and at my options for BlueTooth Hands free options,

Honda kit is about £210 if I fit it myself, I kind of like the idea of a fully integrated system as that is what I had in my last car , so now few questions ..
  • Is the Honda kit any good ?
  • Are there any other alternatives that are worth considering that integrate well with the existing stereo , I dont really like the look of extra displays etc bolted all over the dash board ..
thanks in advance

Steve

The Parrot range seem to be a popular option with better features.

the Honda built in HFT is perfectly OK once you apply the foam DIY fix to make the mic more sensitve by cutting out background noise.

You also get the controls right by your left thumb and it automatically mutes the radio.

Kremmen, as an add on you don't get the steering wheel controls, you get the controls on the windscreen pillar.

I went for a Parrot visor mount in my Civic (also transferred to my Zafira) and had no problems with it. I found it much more reliable than my previous Jabra visor one.

I find the HFT system on the EX fine, and I haven't had to bother with the "mic moving"..
all said and done though, the mic move would take a matter of minutes if it really bugged you that much, there are no screws to remove and just two things to pop out... (one of which is the mic itself).

I'd say go for the HFT .. it's perfectly fine and with a small mod can be improved some if you feel the need.

that's my tuppence

don't know if anyone can confirm if the bolt on HFT enables all the other voice commands just outta interest?

Please note he is asking about the add-on Honda accessory, not the built in system in the EX.
