HFT with multiple handsets

HI

Been a member for some time now and with my 2.2 EX being delivered on 1st February thought I would make my first post!!

I’ve been looking at all the problems that people are having with the HFT – My question is: Can the HFT system cope with more than one telephone? – I can see a situation where it would ‘linked’ to my telephone as I generally drive the most, however what would happen if I let my dearest beloved drive (on her own) – Would she have to go through with the ‘linking’ process every time she gets in the car? – An then me again next time I drive?

Bottom line I guess – would the HFT system be able to work out which phone was in the car automatically?

Cheers

RP

Yes it will take multiple phone pairings (not sure if it's up to 4 or 6). Set the phones to 'auto recognise' the Honda HFT.

Ps: I believe it will recognise both phones if you and your wife are in the car at the same time.

PPs: I've just checked the manual and you can pair up to 6 phones.

Yes, I suppose it's only relevant to the driver's phone.

Indeed,

But what if the driver has 2 phones

Work and Personal.

Haven't got my Civic yet (Haven't even ordered it yet actually) ... but I guess I'll have to forward my work phone to my personal phone when I'm in the car or something like that.

when you get in the car with 2 (or more) paired phones turned on, the HFT will attaempt to pair with the one it was paired with last.

If it can't find that one, not quite sure how it decides which one to pair with, but it will definately pair with one of them.

you can find out which one is paired by using the 'Status' voice command

and if it's not the right one, use the 'Next' voice command until it cycles to the one you want
It will tell you each phone by using the voice tag you saved when you very first paired the phone

All pretty straightforward in operation, despite how complex I've made it sound LOL

in essence - yes it works, and it works well

have this on mine. works really well. links to one phone at a time. you pair the phones with the car just once. he car searches for the last phone it connected to. to change you simply say "next phone" and it offers you the next one you have paired up. best system i have come across.

Only problem if you forget which one you are connected to, I was calling a guy from work and wondered why the company phone sat on the passenger seat was ringing, turned out I was calling from my personal phone in the boot. Also, the next phone command is not quick enough to swap between phones if the other rings, unless you increase the ring time before voicemail gets it.
