Question ambient footwell lighting

hello ,just bought a set of rick hondar footwell lights when i read the instructions he sent it says you pull down the glove box light and feed the wire through the hole and connect it up then pop your light back in but ive seen in the forum some people are taking plastic panels of and connecting the wires from behind any one tell me what is the best way

The way Ricks instructions tells you to do it will give you lights in the footwell as long as the headlights are on. [HOW TO] DIY - Footwell lights (they dim!) and Installing RickHondaR's footwell lights with dimming will give you light controlled by the ambient lights dimmer. Really depends on when you want the lights on. Both ways are pretty simple, dimming requires a bit more work but gives a better result in my opinion.
