My passenger side wing mirror just opens out completely and does not stop in the correct position. Is this a SOD fault or is there an easy fix? At the moment I have to physically grab it and attempt to stop it in the right position which is tricky as it's the passenger side!
Honda have told me to replace it, but they would!
I think the polyswitch within the sod, the part that fails, works by heating as the voltage passes through it to the point where it cuts off the power after a predetermined time, so if it heats too quickly the mirror stops part way or conversely if it doesn't heat quickly enough the mirror goes beyond the stop.
Someone with more knowledge might correct me on this!! But it's worth changing over the sod from the other mirror to test.
aluminium post inside the mirror as a position stopper on it, if the mirror get knocked it breaks the stopper allowing the mirror to go past the stop point.
