HFT interference with Orange Phones
Hi, I've just got my new CDTi EX Civic with the HFT and was wondering if anyone has an issue using Orange handsets with it?
People who phone me whilst I'm in the car complain of interference being heard which changes in severity depending on where I move the handset within the cabin. I've put my orange sim card into other handsets with the same result. I've also tried other people's orange sim cards in my handset and theirs with the same result. I don't get interference when using an O2 or vodafone sim / handset. This makes me think that the frequency that the Orange network operates is in conflict with the HFT system. Can anyone else confirm this behaviour and is it a problem with HFT or Orange? Thanks Justin |

Ummm strange one..... if it was a network interferance problem, it would more likely be affected by O2 or Vodafone as there operate on a lower frequency (900Mhz).
Orange and T-Mobile both operate on (1800Mhz) - not heard of any interference problems with any networks and the cars HFT units. Have you got any other devices in the car that might broadcast and cause the interference? |

bizzarely, I have exactly this problem!
BUT Mine happens with my Vodaphone Nokia (work phone) My Orange D900 is fine... Can confirm though that mine is worst when the Nokia is in the armrest thingy, so I just leave it in my pocket now, or the driver's door. |

I too have the same problem with interferance using a Nokia on Orange , I just had an upgrade to a N73 with a new sim card and the problem seems a lot better , but it has not gone completely , perhaps I will experiment with different locations in the car , I usually locate it in the armrest.

I have the same problem with my Sony Ericsson K610i on Orange. The SIM card is new. Not sure if it changes dependant on cabin position or not. The phone normally stays in my pocket. The caller complains of a whining or buzzing noise but it comes and goes.

I have this Problem too. I have Nokia 6300 on Orange network.
1.8 EX 08 model. Noise changes where I postion the phone in the cabin but I am told it can be very bad to almost not there. Best way to describe it is like mic feedback or loud buzzing. This is my only disappointment with a very good car. Any help would be great. |

I have a HTC Touch on orange and mine also sends out an interference sound. This is going to sound really weird but i've experimented and it seems to be true:The interference is only there when I am near a set of traffic lights, I asked the person I was speaking to tell me every time they heard the buzzing, and they heard it every time I was near a set of lights, as soon as I drove through them the noise stopped and the call was so clear they couldn't tell I was on handsfree.

Best position to avoid interference
Even though I have replaced the Sim and the interference has pretty much gone, I still get the problem occasionally.
I've found the best place to put the phone is in the folding silver door compartment just above the gear stick. Not sure why this is the best place for it, but the issue pretty much never occurs there. I was wondering if anyone else has the same experience or has tried putting the phone in other places? |

My phone has varied between my top pocket to the brodit holder down by the gearstick to inside the centre armrest console and just plonked on the front seat.
Can't think where else and it works OK in all the above. |

Found the same thing myself. Took car to dealers who have done the (usual?) mic mod, they say it may or may not help! Found turning off auto climate control and turning off the fan can help. With the phone in the folding silver door compartment I seem to now even leave the climate control on. Did some tests and found - as long as I don't get my phone near the mic the person I am calling does not get the buzzing/feedback noise. If it starts (moving phone near to mic)it does not completly go away moving the phone well away from the mic, to stop the noise I have to hang up and call the person again with the phone low down i.e. in the folding silver door compartment.
