Voice recog Grill...?

Anyone have any idea what purpose the "grill" next to the interior lights serves? I have a ES. Had a quick look in the manual....but being a bloke it was a quick look

The bit on the left is the microphone for the satnav and HFT. Is that the bit you mean? One of my jobs is to move it to the right...
