1.4 SE - DSI; does it have a Thatcham Cat 1 Immobiliser?

I've just set up car insurance and got my documents through.
To finalise it they need some details from me; one of them is "Thatcham Category 1 Immobiliser Declaration" but I'm really not sure the 1.4 has Cat 1, i'm pretty sure it doesn't have the movement sensors anyway!

I told them when taking out the policy I only had original security in my car, am I wrong or is there anything I can do?

I have no idea, at a guess I would say that it does (or should do). Nothing mentioned in the wiki, I'm sure someone knows!

As far as I know the 1.4 engined cars have perimeter security alarm
only not the Cat 1
best to check with Honda or your dealer

I think that you'll find the Cat 1 is only on the EX.

I've just been told by the insurance company that it does indeed have Cat 1.
My stealers weren't sure, quick PM/message to Holdcroft I think!

Hmm I suppose if you insurance company are wrong they only have themselves to blame ( but I would seek a second opinion)

Got the brochure out

SE 1.4: Perimeter security alarm

SE 1.8 & 2.2: Perimeter security alarm

Sport 1.8 & 2.2: Perimeter security alarm

ES 1.8 & 2.2: Interior & perimeter security alarm (CAT 1)

EX 1.8 & 2.2: Interior & perimeter security alarm (CAT 1)

That's what it says in the book!

As far as I'm aware, all cars sold in the EU are required to be fitted with some form of electronic engine immobilisation (Vehicle Security Directive). Now this does not specifically require Thatcham testing, but any ECU based immobiliser with a transponder as key is likely to be good enough to pass Thatcham: There's not really anything you can bypass to get the engine started amongst other things!

Alarms are a separate issue.

The immobiliser MUST be Tathcam approved, my insurance company says it is, thatcham says it isn't!

My dealer told me that it wasn't, but chasing around (mainly for confirmation in my letter) HUK say that the 1.4 definitely has a Thatcham Cat one approved alarm system!
