Do Honda have an internal numbering system for fixes they send out? the same way that Microsoft have Q articles. Would be very handy to know the number of the documented fix when you take the car in!

"It needs fix 4366PP4"

Phone Fix?

I have just contacted Honda customer services and I was told that there is a 'fix' for the HFT problem and the dealerships will be informed shortly. It is a simple matter of "Moving the microphone a couple of millimeters" said the man on the end of the phone. We shall see.

'couple' being about 20 (to the right) and 5 or 6 (towards the grill) perhaps?

I received an email and subsequently a call from Honda CS last week, I am having my car collected tomorrow and taken to Langley where the necessary work will be carried out, the system will be tested and the car returned to me once satisfactory. A couple of the guys within Honda Tech Centre have tested the mods on their Civics and hence this role out. I am very pleased to have received this offer from Honda, although I do not know if it is cos I made such a fuss, or whether I am a guinea pig that the car is going back to Honda. I believe it is the former and this is a gesture from them that they are commited to fixing the problem, they have after all been receiving regular nags from me since early May

Sorry for not posting this update sooner, but wanted to make sure it was definately happening before I published the news.

The lady at CS does not know what the fix entails, I have my thoughts but will wait until the car is returned before passing judgement, if it works, who cares.

Thanks Honda, better late than never.

I called my dealer today and they don't even know about the problem as a common fault never mind having a fix for it.

They claim to have not seen anything about the Hands Free issue in any of their daily bulletins.

They wanted me to bring the car in so they could have a look at it, but I don't want to do that until they have a fix available.

I have asked them to go and find out what Honda have to say about the problem and call me back. I will keep you posted.

I have just had a call back from my dealer.

He confirms that Honda have a fix in development and it should be available to dealers in the next 1 to 2 weeks. He said Honda wanted to finalise the fix details and ensure parts were available at the dealers.

I will call them in a weeks time and see what the update is and let you all know. Seems we are making progress, at least both Honda and dealers now agree there is a problem and a fix is on the way.

Let's hope it does the job.

Further handsfree update

Hi all,
just spoke to Honda Customer Care, there is a fix, trials have been done and are sucessful. Politics now decree that the official dealer notification and modification are circulated. I am due a call back on Monday to confirm details but it involves moving the mic and a drill. Funny but I read that somewhere else a few weeks ago....

But if that is the fix how does the Accord work when the mic is half way across the centre plastic bit? I dunno, just want it fixed, and don't want my car butchering.

I believe that if the fix involves the drill and relocation, then the guys with a glass roof are K-nackered, as they do not have the 'dummy' grill on the right ?

Maybe they would have a new moulding and move the roof blind switch to the left.

I spoke to the Service Manager at my dealer and he is aware that the fix is on it's way. He also told me it NOT involve moving the mic from left to right, so I guess you are OK

Duncan, my car has been at Honda in Slough for just under a week now for the fix to be carried out, I received news on Monday it was ready, but have since been told it is not, and that more testing needs to be done. There was also mention in the mail from Honda CS that they have been contacted by someone from the factory regarding the modification. It gets strangerer and strangerer.

That's a bit poor really. You'd expect them to have fully tested it and proved it before rolling it out as a fix ! Better that way round that keeping customers cars for an unknown period of time.
