Ah, so it's official. I'll get them to look at mine at the same time as it goes in to rectify the pigs-ear they have made of spraying my bonnet.

Latest HFT Update

I contacted Honda CS today and spoke to a polite and helpful guy. When I got off the floor, I told him of the problems that I was having with my HFT. He informed me that it was a known problem, as if we didn't know and the dealers knew all about it (Not) and I should contact them for the fix.

I called my dealer and supplier of my Civic. Did they know all about it? No, of course they didn't. Anyway, I was told that he would call CS and get back to me.

Watch this space.

So, here it is, the fix......

I need to take back my award of it being wonkys idea they used, they didn't. If they had there is no way to clip the mic back in place.

So the addition is on the front.

Hi Parky.

I don't really understand what is going on. I called CS only yesterday (10.09.2006) and was told that there is NOW a fix for this problem and I was to contact my dealer which I did.

Needless to say, they did not know that there was a problem with the HFT telephone let alone a fix for it.

What is wrong with the comms with Honda and their dealers? I thought it was bad with my company and I work for BT!!!

But it works.......... although to be fair based on the "what time is it?" test results posted here or elsewhere on the site, i think the foam behind the mic is better. But the difference is amazing, still quite a bit of background noise, which is to be expected, but my voice is so much clearer, been ringing my voicemail again.

don't get me wrong, very glad you're happy Rich, and also that they have a fix of sorts

But that looks to me like a handcut piece of foam, not something that Honda are rush out as an official fix

Unless they supply each dlr with a 2m square of foam, a template and a sharp knife anyway

Interesting photo.

I have some foam upstairs somewhere (the sort you ship PROMs in), so I think I'll get my craft knife out to try that shape. It looks like the cut out bits are the same thickness as the original foam, with the thicker parts acting as a baffle.

If it works...I'm all for it, no matter what it looks like!

Knew they would use my version (Less the bit about rotating the mic through 180 degrees)

Well after its first road test I can confirm the fix works, whilst travelling at sixty to seventy-few mph I made a call and could be heard very clearly at the other end. The response from the voice control is occasionally still a little off, but I put that down to my diction, I need to enunciate better.

Result!!

Great news, I will get my handsfree sorted at the 12K service. Just need to get the car back from the repairers after a close encounter with a BMW driver. You know the model with indicators and mirrors that are only supplied as an optional extra.

Just got mine back from the dealer (Two Mills in Cheshire). To my surprise they fixed all three issues I reported!

The HFT and voice now works - confirmed by a call to my wife on Friday @ 70mph, she didn't even know I was in the car!

There was a clicking above the drivers headrest that had been bugging me - apparently there is known problem with an associated service buliten. Now fixed.

The boot now closes every time..

First time ever - the dealer fixed them all in one go.

So do you think this is getting applied to all EX's now as part of the PDI? (as it should be) or am I going to have to book mine in with the man when I get it on Tuesday
