IWANTACIVIC:

there's no foam in there normally. The fix includes adding the foam in what is only a small gap between the plastic cover and the mic. Supposedly that makes sound travel better to the mic.

Have you tried it at motorway speeds? That's when it's at its worst.

I know they are trying to save every penny, but this is ridiculous. Perhaps they are saving up for the compensation claims when the tyre gunk fails to work.

But that looks to me like a handcut piece of foam, not something that Honda are rush out as an official fix

Unless they supply each dlr with a 2m square of foam, a template and a sharp knife anyway

I rest my case!

As posted on September 11th this year, following RicherRich getting his official Honda HFT fix done

Heh, would you happen to know next Saturday's lottery numbers while you're at it TT? (PM will do ).

I can imagine a Civic, having had all of the official fixes, just bouncing off anything it hit... with a muffled 'boing' sound.

I can also imagine accident investigation people wondering where all the foam came from

Unfortunately, can't work out which Saturday they're for though

PMSL at the foam comment - hadn't thought of that!

Rhodgreen, well done for posting the Honda Service Bulletin. Took a printout of it to my local stealer during the week and let them keep it after they done the mod to the microphone. (First time he had seen it) They said I was the first one that they had modified.
Have to say at 70 mph all works fine and dandy first time, whereas before it took several goes to get the right number.

I find it hard to believe the 3 dealers I contacted said they didn't know anything about it and they'd had no complaints either?!?!?

That goes to prove my theory about DIY repairs, if you don't complain about it they never know and the rest of us have to beat them about the head with information until they do something about it.

The dealer gave me copies of the Honda printout regarding the mod - I'll attempt to attach below - hope it helps someone out there!
I see you are in southampton who done your mod?

I had the mod done on mine and the feedback is that the phone is much better. The folks on the other end can still tell I am in a car, but can at least hear what I am saying.
On the flip-side, the voice commands are now really crap ... it almost always gets it wrong, including trying to dial.

Have you guys all got yours sorted now ??

My 2 week old car went into dealer after I rang him from the car at 70mph
they had it for 1:30 hours then said they could find nothing wrong with it.
of course they paired their phone to it and used it in the workshop, of course it was alright. I showed them the TSB, they said theyd never seen that before, no one had ever complained before, checked my chassis number and said there were no bullitins relating to it.
So now they want the car for two days to sort out the HFT mic ???

Anyone else havin probs with 2007 models ?

no such thing as a 2007 model, they are still knockin them out with the same problems except the faulty shocks, but everything else seams to be the same, and we are still in 2006.

My HFT works much better than it used to!
When talking over Bluetooth at approx 70mph they say it now sounds as it did when I was doing under 30mph before the fix.
Some voice commands do seem "different" - but overall an improvement, but not perfect!
