After doing the mod myself........the hft IS better - still not brilliant, but better.

The voice commands are still dreadful. Slow, inaccurate, and a complete waste of time and money. I have given up with them, especially as the standard controls are really very good and very well placed.

Honda would be better forgetting voice activation unless they can do MUCH better next time.

I totally agree with you. I end up shouting at the damn thing and speaking so slowly to it I just lose my patience and give up. Its a good idea in theory, but in practice, a total waste of time.

I'm happy with mine after the mod.

The only time the voice recognition does not work well is when I say the command incorrectly, which is therefore my fault.

Just make sure you are using the correct commands.

Just had my HFT mod - what an amazing difference. I don't have to shout any more. Voice commnds are recognised quickly. I am delighted. My friends and family are even more delighted as they don't have to listen to me speaking through a 'wind tunnel'

They just did the standard magic foam mod!

The dealers did say it doesn't always work but Honda make them do the foam mod first before doing more major work......luckily for me the foam seems to have done the trick....

Last night I did the mod myself by placing 5mm of foam behind the mic thus pushing it flush with grill and reset the mic level in the diag. menu.

I highly recommend doing it, it takes less than 5 mins, simple to do and the results are amazing! The HFT and voice commands are now 200% better even at 70 mph.

Has anybody determined whether strong regional accents are to blame for the HFT not recognizing commands? I have a pretty mixed accent and its better for me than for my wife and kids that have strong Scouse accents. "what time is it?" translates as "fan speed 7" Lol. I'm getting my fix done on Monday.

How do you change the mic level ?? i got into thge menu but could only exit it, and no amount of shouting caused any of the lights to illuminate.

Honda had my car for 2 hours, 1 hour, one day, 1 day, and 1 hour this morning to change main unit, which doesn't seem to have any affect other than loosing all my stored contacts - Doh !!!

Has anyone worked out how to use the HFT to call numbers in your mobiles directory/contact list rather than having to read out the number to the car ? The HFT seems to take possesion of my phone so i cant hold it and use it, but nothing comes out of the speakers.

funny you should say that, I have no particular accent and there is a slight pause before it returns my commands however my other half is chinese and when she uses the voice activation its instant !
Now I am not saying the answer is to mimic a Chinese or asian accent, but maybe the closer the accent is to Japanese the better

Took our Ex to the dealer today for petrol cap and HFT to be fixed. Left it for an hour and on our return the petrol cap had been replaced but they said that Honda had only had a few complaints about the HFT and were working on a fix. I said that I had seen a lot of complaints on this forum and that I thought that Honda had a fix. His answer was that moving the mike was no good and he would contact us as soon as Honda had worked out a solution but emphasized again that Honda had not had many complaints!! I told him to have a look at this forum and see how many complaints had been posted here.

There is an official Honda fix for this and the dealer should know about it.

Call Honda Customer Services and tell them that the dealer is not applying the known fix. They should call the dealer and tell them the details, I did that and it worked for me.

Alternatively, show them my post #137 on this thread - I've scanned in the official pages from Honda UK. Print them out and take them in and then let us know what their faces looked like!!
