Electrics Abs light

Got my Abs light on now that i have had the front brake discs replaced and its not going off....i thought that it might be the sensor so i replaced it still no joy is there any way of resetting it??

try disconnecting the battery negative for 10 minutes

or do you know anyone with a generic obd2 scantool before you try that

the weird thing is that i actually own a scan tool myself its the same one i used on my ep3 when i used to have that and this one wont plug in which i cant seem to figure out as the connector looks identical...

Look in the wiki about shorting the diagnostic port. You can read the code on the screen

I know on other cars that i have owned that there is no need to reset ABS faults after you have fixed them. Normally a fault lies with a sensor and to verify that is the fault you unplug and measure the resistance of all 4 sensors. Normally one will not have any conductivity and that means the ABS system has an open circuit. This cancels the ABS system and brings on the light.
If you have changed a non working sensor when you next start the car the light remains on until you have driven down the road. This is the second part of the system check as each sensor now generates a voltage as the brake disc is rotating.

Just another thought, do you have the correct air gap? It's not too critical but you have a gap between the sensor and disc.

ive not checked anything as its been chucking it down here im going to insoect the sensor itself as ive been told many times that the abs light dosent need resetting its goes off if there is no fault...

need to check the sensor is in correcty

had a look today and found out that the new sensor has broken inside my hub so now i have to get a sensor and take out the peice thats stuck inside...does anyone know if the abs sensors are sided?L>R??

Some faults are permanent and need to be reset yes

Got some fault codes can anyone explain what they are??
12-1 Right front sensor(can't remember if it was speed sensor or just sensor)
35-1 right rear inlet solenoid

Any help would be really appreciated

Right rear inlet solenoid could be the ABS block brake distribution control.
[Think it controls brake pressure distribution form the ABS pump.]
Right front sensor is probably the ABS sensor plugged into the hub.
Should be looking down on the car from above.

You dont want to be playing with the brakes.
Dealers IMHO.
But I would suggest the simple stuff like making sure the sensor isnt smahed right front..making sure the caliper works and isnt seized right rear.

i dont want to dredge up old posts but i have no choice here, Ive had the vsa /abs light on for two months now. im loathed to take my car to honda or any other mechanic and find out what the problem is.
The light came on after a month of replacing the rear brake pads (june 2012), Yesterday i jut came off the motorway and i head a (Clink!!!) coming from the rear right caliper. on closer inspection i see the pad worn to nothing.

With relic saying the sensor in the rear right hub controling abs control could this be linked to the caliper binding and the sensor picking up that fault, or heat damage to the sensor from the binding caliper. Some honda Boffins required here.

Had the same problem few weeks ago. Replaced sensor but to save some money i bought one on ebay not genuine honda part and the light did not came off. Tried computer reset and a lot of stupid different things. One day been advised to try genuine Honda sensor. Went to honda dealer replaced sensor for 188 pounds and now everything works great. No warning lights no problems. Will never try again cheap replacement parts.

Impossible to say without the codes.
The Honda HDS system you can read the all the sensors live.
You can also test the valves/pump to each wheel for abs/vsa operation.
It doesnt take long to do the tests.
I can test everything in less than 30 minutes.
You can of course read any stored codes too.
So I would suggest going somewhere with HDS and find out exactly what the issue is.

Wouldnt surprise me if the pads have been hammered in TBH or seized.
The shoulders on the pads often need filing to make sure they slide easily in the runners..or they will jam.
Failed sensors as such arent normally reported unless they have broken up for some reason.

ok, well i will sort the rear brakes before any nasty weather comes, as for the sensor, i will probably wait till after christmas to take it to honda, £188 is a bit pricey at the moment will the obd2 get the codes also, a bit risky but i mught try scrap yards and see if theres any parts to be had as a temp fix. cheers Relic
