AC/Heater heating

the last few days i've been drivin around i've felt a heat coming onto my hand when its on the gear stick. i checked to make sure my AC/Heating was off and it was. I'm not sure where this heat is coming from

. I put my hand up to the vents and felt a slight warmth there too.

anyone else experienced anythin similar?

Did you really turn the AC "off", if you did then you will be getting warm air from the vents including the footwell vents, if the car temp is set to over 10C on the display then it is warm air only, select AC "on" it should then regulate the interior temp to the selected value, but this may also mean that it will put warm air into the car if it decides that the car is too cool.

To get ambient outside air with the the AC off turn the temp control until display shows minimum.

Unusual, first I've heard of something similar. People have experience problems with the dash heating up, especially when using the CD player, but I can't think of anyone having problems with a warm gear stick.

its not the gear stick that is warm, i jus feel a warmth on the top of my hand, so i guess this could be the heat from the dash as a result of using the CD player

well i havent used the AC/heating for 3/4 days now and there is nothing on the display except the clock so I'm sure i've turned it all off.

I found that having the centre dash vents set to their lowest position will blow air over the gearstick area.

They look as if the air should be aimed higher - optical illusion!

Perhaps some 'cool' music might solve your problem.

If I'm not wrong, the central air vent is not closed when you shut down the airco. So There is always a slight air flow coming from this air vent.

You are not wrong Sir.

The forward movement of the motor is suffice to propel air thro' them vents.

Operate the vent control dials and all will be under control again.

hmmm i have exactly the same problem - everything off .. [i havent checked if the temp setting was set to min though, although it was set to low] there is warm air blowing out all the vents...

Im going to try the setting the temp to min to see if that helps.

If you turn the system off, then you should expect all sorts of oddities. The car is not designed to be run with it off, and indeed the manual states:

Keep the system completely off for short periods only.

There is plenty of heat being generated all round the front of the car, and this may well waft its way into the cabin. Without any airflow through the cabin (with the system off), then it will stay with you. I would be reluctant to drive without airflow, just in case any stray nasty gasses decided to come in at a tiny rate and then accumulate over time.

If the noise of the system is irritating, simply turn the fan speed down to minimum. The system will still be able to control temperature, and there will be a small but important airflow.

Not that I disagree but I find this amazing to have to have the system on always or on at times...
It seems to complicated...

In my fiesta and my lotus before if you turn the fan off and turn the a/c off
and turn the recirculate button off too
and have the temp set to lowest
you always get a small amout of airflow from the outside world into the car.
this airflow maybe slightly warm depending on the temp outside or where the air intake is compared to radiator and heat soak in the car.
Im used to that...

but in this car it seems you cant just have the sytem off when you want it.
I agree when i feel heat - as soon as I put the fan on it gets rid of the heat...

Although the last of the air con modes directs the air only to the feet and the screen - effectively turning off the centre vents

Dunno if that still works if you then turn the system off though...
