Does the disc need to be loaded to use sat-nav?

Hi,

I am looking at buying a Civic with the factory mounted sat-nav.

From reading the "back-up" thread, I got the impression that the DVD has to be loaded at all times when using the naviation system, which would mean that it is not possible to use the sat-nav AND play a CD at the same time.

I thought the DVD was just for updates, but I am now thinking that I was wrong.

Nav and radio works, I tried this in a demo car.

Can some-one confirm?

They are different units.

The sat-nav DVD access is via the rear of the glove box (I think). CD's are on the facia.

FWH,
Some of Civic's competitors use the Radio/CD player for the Satnav disc and therefore you cannot play a CD while using the Satnav.
The Civic Satnav is a seperate DVD-based unit located in the glovebox, hence the is no conflict between Satnav and CD player.

OK, sounds great.
IŽll order a sat-nav spec version, upgrade the audio with aftermarket parts and blow my ears out to Marilyn Manson while not getting lost.

( I am the only one buying this car thanks to the Marylin Manson sound track on the tv-ad???)
