Thumbs up

the radio in the o6-07 civic DOES NOT utilise a security code as in previous generation civic, the credit card sized piece of paper mentioned earlier in this thread is the code for the locking wheel nut to enable you to obtain a replacement if you lose it

Well, it's what I like about this site, you're always learning.

Got my book out, as promised and it DOES say Key Code Card.

But it doesn't mention what key it's refering to.

Maybe it's the ignition one eh?

its for the locking wheel nut "key" (actually a socket) there is only 10 different variations available , this "security key card"enables the dealer to identify which one is on your car & order a replacement if required !!

The smaller card is definitely for the ignition code - it means your stealer can create a new key from it.

It must be be so difficult for the manufacturer to print 'Wheel Nuts' on that card!

the smaller card you refer to is primarily used at the assembly plant when putting the car together, the barcode is scanned so the information about the lock & key set is recorded onto the build sheet which accompanies the car to its point of sale with most of the information being transferred onto the pdi sheet which you recieve when collecting your new car.

This card isnt much use to the dealer as they have no means of scanning the bar code on it.All honda keys are ordered by chassis number from europe(belgium i believe) & come pre cut (laser cut) then just require coding to your car. so really the card is of little real use .eg :if joe public walked into his local dealer with one of these security cards in his hand they wouldnt just order him some keys on the strength of that,he would need to prove he is the rightful owner first.
