Alarm thatcham category 1 alarm

i'm looking at installing a CAT 1 system, i've looked at the Clifford 650, but to be honest don't know what is what in the system, anyone know what each of the components do? the sites i've visited jus giv the technical names but don't knw how they work...if you knw what i mean

and is there any real point in me getting a cat 1 alarm? i'm just doing it to try bring my insurance down (and to av a system which does a couple of interestin stuff)

The main reason would be to alert you to anybody trying to break into your vehicle.. also it would bring your insurance down.

It might be worth checking with your insurer though to see whether the decrease in premium would offset the cost of the alarm.

You've already got a perimeter alarm and an immobiliser as standard.

As above, get a quote for the insurance before you have anything done. You may also need to get it professionally installed in order to qualify as Thatcham. Ask your insurer.
